If you are in lockdown due to COVID-19, then you will have been spending a lot of time in your house. If you have a young family or a few housemates, then why don’t you use the time you have to create a luxurious new bedroom? Somewhere you can hide away and pretend you are on a little retreat in a 5-star hotel?
Hotel rooms are usually relatively neutral in colour. You will find lots of greys, creams and white. This is so all of the guests feel relaxed and calm when they stay. Some hotels, such as the boutique ones, give you a more dramatic colour scheme. They want you to enjoy a feeling of indulgence, so they use reds and blacks to add a regal flair. Find a colour scheme that appeals to you, but keep it clean. You can add colour through furnishings later.
Another feature of most hotel rooms is space. The central focus point will either be a large window framed by stunning curtains, or the bed. There will be a reading area and often a desk. A bedroom will have far more clutter because it is a working room for your life
! So find some storage solutions like a black jewelry armoire, this will keep all of your personal belongings hidden away behind a stunning piece of furniture. Work with the space you have and consider any features which could become a focal point.
Comfort is next. If you arrive at a top-notch hotel and walk into a cold and bland room, you may very well leave again! Most hotels will use multiple layers of crisp white sheets instead of a duvet cover. There will be a decadent bedspread over this and then a throw. Creating layers on the bed makes it more inviting. Especially if they are contrasting feels, such as linen and faux fur, you should also pile cushions on top of the pillows, and this will invite you to throw yourself on the bed and snuggle up for hours.
Finally, you should invest in lighting and electrical equipment. Having a flat-screen television mounted neatly on the wall opposite your bed will keep you entertained on the nights you just want to lock yourself away. You should have good quality lights that emit a warm glow, bedside lamps add a lovely feel to a room if you want the lights to be dimmed. You may also want to invest in some LED strip lights which come on when you open your cupboard doors.
Add books, artwork and flowers to give a stunning look to your room and then sit back and enjoy the feeling of luxury that you have created yourself. You don’t have to spend a fortune to achieve a significant change in your bedroom, just get creative with what you have and remember to keep it simple, clean and calm. For added luxury, invest in some wax melts, and you will have a relaxing aroma in your room all night long!
