At some point in our lives, most of us consider getting a tattoo. You might have Pinterest boards, or even a pad of sketches, devoted to tattoos that you like. You might doodle ideas in notepads and on receipts. You might have considered images or quotes that have deep meaning, or pictures that you like and make you feel happy. But, not all of us ever manage to go out and get them. For some of us, the idea of a tattoo is one that keeps coming back, but we worry that we won’t always like it. That we’ll change our minds. That tattoos are going to be on our bodies forever. You might worry about the cost and the pain. You might even wonder if a tattoo will stop you from getting a job, or mean that you aren’t eligible for certain positions. Getting a tattoo, however, can be great. Here are some of the reasons to do it.
To Push Yourself
Sometimes, we need to confront the things that we’re worried about. We need to do the things that we’ve been thinking about for a long time. If you’ve been thinking about a tattoo for a while, push yourself out of your comfort zone and go and get it. Confront your fear of the pain and do it. Every time you look at that tattoo, you’ll feel proud and confident. You’ll know that you overcame your worries and did something purely for yourself. This can be an inspiration for the rest of your life.
To Create Something Original
Some tattoo designs are more popular than others. Some trends come and go. But, you don’t have to follow trends. You can design something yourself, or work with your tattoo artist to develop something unique. Tattoo artists have a wealth of experience, as well as equipment like stencil paper to help them to create something unique for you. This is your chance to create a one of a kind piece, and display it proudly.
To Be Stuck with Something You Chose
One of the reasons that people will tell you not to get a tattoo is that you’ll be stuck with it forever. Firstly, this isn’t necessarily true. Nowadays, it’s easy to remove or change tattoos if you need to. Secondly, we’re stuck with plenty of things. You might have cellulite, varicose veins, stretch marks, acne scars, and other marks on your body that you are unhappy with. But, for the most part, you are stuck with them. Why not get stuck with something that you like, and have chosen, as well.
The World Has Changed
Yes, once upon a time, tattoos and piercings would put people employing you. But the world has changed. Most employers aren’t bothered anymore, the public barely notices, and if you need to, you can always cover-up.
To Express Yourself
The best reason to get a tattoo always has, and will always be, to express yourself. Tattoos are like clothing choices, or jewelry. They are your way to express your taste and style, to display something meaningful, and to have freedom over your body and image.
