Every single little girl out there – no matter her age – wants time with her Mom. It’s important to her that she stands in her shadow and visualize the woman that she will one day become, which is why a Mommy-Daughter day is the perfect way to spend that time. Concentrated moments in each other’s company enjoying the world and going shopping, eating good food and just being able to bond – it’s precious.
A day for Mom and daughter doesn’t have to be relegated to a birthday or Mother’s Day – though there is nothing wrong with doing that. You can choose any day that you like to spend time with your child, and yet you may be stuck for ideas. Make sure that no matter what you choose from the list of ideas below, you indulge in a day for both of you. Top it off with matching Hawaiian Necklaces and you’ve got the perfect day out! With that in mind, let’s take a look at a list of perfect Mother-Daughter Day ideas so that you can make the time with your child as wonderful as it could be.
Do Something New
There is nothing out there saying that you have to choose something tired and done before. Go online and see whether there is anything quirky you can enjoy together – age appropriately, of course. Get your nails done together, or head to a cookery class with your teenage daughter and have a blast baking cakes together. Whatever it is, make it a new experience for both of you.
Yard Sale Trawl
Set a challenge: you each have $20 and you have to find as many girly things for $20 at a yard sale as possible. It’s an adventure, and it gives you the chance to teach your daughter the art of haggling.
Spread some blank sheets of paper across the garage wall, and fill balloons with paint. Then, spend a fun-filled few hours lobbing darts at the balloons to see how they make patterns on the paper. It’s a great way to laugh together and have fun, and it’s good if you use poster or washable paint – just in case!
Relax and Stretch
Not many mother and daughter combos head to a yoga class, but there are plenty of mommy and me classes that you can join for it. If yoga isn’t your thing, head to a Zumba class and spend it laughing and dancing together.
Plan A Picnic
It doesn’t matter how old your daughter is, a picnic is always a good idea! For little ones, bring their teddy bear and have a fun day together on a Teddy Bear Picnic. Otherwise, choose your favorite foods and sprawl out in a beauty spot for sunbathing, deep conversation and delicious food.
This will vary depending on age, with little ones being so excited to have a tea party with juice and biscuits. For older daughters, book a swanky hotel and get dressed up. You can find some beautiful spots for Afternoon Tea if you just do your research. Add in a nail appointment and you’re all set!
See A Show
You don’t have to be a lover of musicals to appreciate a show! When you have teenage daughters you want to treat, heading to a comedy show or a Shakespeare interpretation and enjoy a cultural afternoon. Even little kids will appreciate Panto! If you have older kids interested in ballet, taking them to their first one is going to be a privilege.
Head To The Zoo
A slow walk around the zoo is going to be a fun afternoon out for the both of you, so don’t be shy about spending a little cash and driving a little further out if it means finding the animals you both love. A zoo is an educational and fun place to be, and it gives you that concentrated one on one time that you both need!
For older children, think about a day spa. You can chill by the pool together, get a facial and go for a sauna. It’s so much fun to have that time bonding in a pretty environment, and when you add in a delicious lunch, you’re getting everything you need!
These ideas are not exhaustive. There are millions of ideas out there that will mean that you have the perfect time with your daughter. Don’t take the time that you have together for granted: she lives for you and loves you – show her you feel the same.
