In case you haven’t noticed, we’ve been busy little bees lately. (Find me on snapchat: ambernmccain or follow here: Snapchat. Instagram.) David’s been gone (work related) and I am basically bored to tears. His leaving happened right after my Mom and brother moved out, so talk about LONELY! I’ve been talking to Bo a lot more than normal. Owen just ignores me. The kids think I’ve lost my mind, but are content with it because they get a lot more Minecraft/Kize.com time. So here’s what we’ve (I’ve) been up to to help pass the time…
First up, I cut my hair. Yes, I cut it myself. This really shouldn’t shock anyone after my DIY balayage. I snapped about it though. I’ve been snapping a lot more than usual lately.
The last time David was gone for a long period of time, the kids were still young enough that come dinner time, I’d be cooking for basically myself. That’s different now. They want food… all the time! I’ve been whipping up some great things lately, like BLTs paired with fried squash and zucchini. YUM! I whipped up some double battered fried chicken strips the other day, and oh my goodness… delicious!!
Oh, super depressing moment… whipping up the PERFECT cornbread only to realize you have NO butter! How sad, right?!
If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you probably saw these, but still… I like to share on the blog as well because I feel I get more of a chance to tell the story as opposed to a quick little ramble for IG, or FB. Am I right?! They’re for shorter rambles? Is that just a me thing? Who knows… doesn’t matter.
The other day, I declared it Donate and Donut day! We had purged the house and filled two giant lawn bags full of stuff, a regular trash bag full of stuff, and had a few big things that we just hand carried. After all that purging, we were HUNGRY! I was so proud of the kids, so I promised them that we’d get donuts in our jammies the next morning after we dropped everything off at the donation site.
Poor Owen looks like he’s the only one in PJs. Maddie changed clothes, she decided she didn’t want to wear her pajamas. Fin is wearing his pajamas. He sleeps in a shirt and his boxers, so of course he threw some pants on over that. So, poor little O just stands out, but it’s okay… he’s pretty cute!
Fin then thought it’d be funny to copy me by putting on my hat and taking my coffee. We all giggled about it.
Then Owen being the little turd that he is, decided he needed to copy Fin, only his way. Ha.
Fin and I also busted our butts working on the front yard. I laid 14 bags of mulch on top of the 6 I’d laid last week. TWENTY bags of mulch people! Seriously, I have muscles for days now. *wink*
We also visited Mom’s new apartment and spent the day swimming with Uncle Umpa before he went of to join the Air Force.
You should know that this next photo is right before Owen, “drownded”. He was feeling a bit on the brave side, took his floatie off, and stepped down the first step, then the second… then a wave hit him and knocked him down. He bobbed up and down for a second before I helped him up so now he says that “the time I drownded”.
Owen photography at it’s finest, folks.
On top of the yard work, cooking, swimming, making up national holidays (don’t forget about leftovers for lunch day)… I’ve also rearranged our bedroom, cleaned our bedroom, put all laundry away, pulled the big ass couch out of the house and into the garage to be thrown away (by myself… because it was old and super gross), I’ve rearranged our living room, cleaned the whole house…like a good deep clean, finished up those thrifted benches that I’ve been working on for like… ever -post on these coming soon-, purged all that stuff mentioned above, cut my hair, painted the kitchen, and painted the basement ceiling for David. That’s on top of day to day life, cleaning, errands, etc etc.
Seriously… I’m like bored Wonder Woman.
What do you do when you get bored?
