In all my seven (almost) years of parenting, I’ve decided to put together a list of things to help you become a better mom. Or at least some tips that have helped me along the way & that will hopefully help you a bit too.
1. BUY DIAPERS ONLINE
It doesn’t matter how often we think we have enough diapers, we NEVER do. Just about every 3 weeks we’re digging through the diaper bags, purses, car stash etc to find ONE diaper to hold us over until we can get dressed & run to the store.
I aways seem to be completely out of them on the day that I haven’t showered, the kids are grumpy, David’s stuck at work until super late and I HAVE to go to the store for DIAPERS! We all know that that’s annoying.
Save yourself THAT trouble & just order them online.
Diapers.com is having a promotion right now- $12 off first time purchases made
through Diapers.com on any Huggies diaper case.
Here’s the code to get the discount! – WOWHUGGIES
Buying Huggies Little Movers online is convenient and a timesaving way to get your diapers without the hassle! You don’t even have to get your kids dressed to rush them out to restock up on diapers! That’s just smart parenting!
2. TAG TEAM CHORES
Seriously, have your kids help with what they can. I put together a post of 20 age appropriate chores for 4/5 year olds that you can read here.
David and I also split the dishes. He unloads, I load.
He and the kids round up the dirty laundry for me, I wash, dry, fold and put ours away. The kids put their own clothes (and Owen’s) away.
Seriously, tag team the chores. It’ll help so much and save you lots of time.
3. MEAL PLAN
I’m not even kidding, when I go to the grocery store with a specific list, it saves me SO much time and money. Same with when it comes to dinner time, I know what I need, what to thaw out, how long it’ll take to prep and cook and I’m not running around crazy like trying to figure out what to feed us. Meal planning takes time but in the end it is SO worth it.
4. CAR POOL.
No joke, nothing is more frustrating than being stuck in traffic and KNOWING that you’re going to be late to pick up your kid from Pre-K. In that situation, I called a friend & asked her to pick up Maddie for me. The neighbors and I also have each other down as emergency pick ups for our kids as well. Next school year though since Maddie & Fin will have the same hours (dang 1/2 day PreK that was only 2.5 hours long) I plan to car pool with friends. I’ll drop em off, they’ll pick them up and vice versa. So much of a time saver! Use those days to run errands knowing that you don’t have to rush back to unload the cold foods before rushing to grab the kids. It’s also nice not having to wake up the baby from his nap! Just shoot a quick “Baby’s napping. Grab my kids, please?” text and DONE! Seriously, car pool. Or at least have friends willing to help grab up your kids for you.
My BEST tip: Go offline. Take your kids outside, to the pool, to the park, to color with chalk. Try those Pinterest projects you keep pinning, take em out for milkshakes just because. BE their Super Mom. Don’t stress the small stuff, just enjoy them! They grow up so fast and change daily! Enjoy each moment, even the stressful ones like frantically searching your car for that last diaper just to haul all three to the grocery store to buy more. Well, maybe skip that one all together and just order diapers online. *wink*
