Coming up with a baby name is far from easy. This is a name you’re going to need to make sure still sounds nice in 10, 20, and 30 years time. A name is something most people carry with them forever (unless they decide to change it) so it’s something you should take your time thinking about. Below, you’ll find 4 ideas to help you come up with the perfect baby name.
Incorporate Your Passions
No, this doesn’t mean you should call your son ‘football’ or your daughter ‘tennis’. If you have a favorite author or singer, however, you could incorporate a little of their name as a nod to them.
Trends come and go, so just because a name is cool and trendy now, doesn’t mean it will be in a few years. Plus, do you really want a child that has the same name as many other kids in the playground? Going for something ‘too out there’ probably isn’t a good idea either. Instead, go for something that you believe is timeless.
Say It Out Loud
You want to make sure you won’t hate the name when your child is a toddler and into everything. Say it out loud a lot so you can get used to it. You might want to ask close family and friends for their opinion, but be prepared for not everybody to love your chosen name.
Make Sure Others Can Spell and Pronounce It
If the name is too difficult to spell and pronounce, you’re setting your child up for a lifetime of annoying encounters. Irish names can be some of the most difficult – just take a look at the infographic below!
