If you’ve been with me through the years, you might remember a few years back when we slowly made changes here and there to what we consumed after my husband (27 at the time) found out he had the cholesterol of a 45yr old… We changed up a few things, switched from beef to turkey, etc etc and continued on business as usual. But as the years have passed, as our kids have aged, and as we have learned more David’s injuries and disabilities, we have dived a lot more into a healthier side of things. With David being 100% disabled, his gym time has tanked. He can not work out like he used to (former gym rat), but he also can not carry a lot of extra body weight without it fully affecting his body’s pain. So, once again we took a step back and reevaluated our lifestyle. It was almost a no-brainer to make the switch to more organic products, such as Horizon Organic Grassfed Milk.
We have slowly but surely learned that organic products aren’t as out of budget as we originally thought. Yes, Horizon Organic Grassfed Milk (found at Walmart) is slightly more costly than a half of whole milk, but I feel so much better knowing that he is putting wholesome, Non-GMO, organic products into his body and that our babies are too. What you eat plays into your mood, how your body feels, how your brain functions, and even affects the acne on your face and the joints that pop throughout your body.
The creamyness of this grassfed milk BLOWS my mind and makes for the best milkshakes we have EVER made at home! Not even kidding. In the photo below you can even see the milkshake messes I made in the process of making FIVE different milkshakes. (Do you like Peanut Butter in yours or no? This was a HUGE debate in our house. -haha – I personally do not)
Sidenote: I am thankful for my sweet little girl that snapped pictures while I poured. 🙂 (mostly though, I think she was just trying to pass some time until her shake was ready).
Another reason that I chose Horizon is because I absolutely love the way Horizon treats their cows. They raise their cows humanely and don’t use antibiotics or growth hormones. Their cows are certified organic grassfed cows that spend their days grazing freely. With access to shade, clean water, shelter and clean air, wouldn’t you too be a happier cow?
