Now that we live in Colorado, we do a lot more hiking. Nothing too strenuous because we always have the kids out there with us, but we still go out for hours at a time just seeing what’s out there. Each time we go, I make sure to pack a bag full of things we definitely need and things we might need. So today, I thought I’d show you how to put together the perfect hiking bag since I’ve kind of become a champ at it.
Snacks. I go with these goodnessknows® Snack Squares for me & David because they’re tasty, come in three different flavors (Cranberry, Almond, Dark Chocolate, Apple, Almond & Peanut, Dark Chocolate, and Peach & Cherry, Almond, Dark Chocolate) so there is a bit of a variety to choose from. And then I let the kids pick what snacks they want for the day.
Sunblock. Being almost 10,000 feet closer to the sun means you’re definitely more likely to get burnt. Even if you don’t live in a higher altitude like we do, being in the sun for hours at a time without sunblock probably just isn’t the smartest choice.
Band-Aids. You just never know when you’ll need a band-aid. You could get scratched by a tree, fall while climbing and scrape yourself up, or if you’re my kid, you could just need one because you like the design and you’re four years old.
Sunglasses. I feel like this one is a given. It gets pretty bright outside.
Neosporin spray. Goes hand in hand with the band-aids.
Deodorant. (hello, sweat)
Chapstick. Don’t question it, just trust me.
Wipes. Do you know how many times I’ve wanted to just wash my hands while hiking? Wipes are always a good thing to have on hand.
A handy bag. I went with the a rope bag because it’s handy & hands free! It has two main pockets – one for snacks and one for other items.
Water. Good ole h2o. Again, spend lots of time outdoors and you’ll need to stay hydrated! I use one with a clip to clip it to my bag (hands free!)
Good hiking boots. My mom & brother got me a pair for Christmas and I love them! I didn’t think they’d make such a difference, but they definitely do!
What about you? Do you and your family hike? Spend time outdoors? What else would you add to your bag? Have you tried these goodnessknows® Snack Squares yet?
I found them near the checkouts – be sure to grab one up next time you’re checking out of Walmart! I think the goodnessknows® Apple, Almond & Peanut, Dark Chocolate is my favorite. Which one is yours? goodnessknows® Snack Squares reminds us that doing a little good for yourself can go a long way. Give yourself a break and enjoy life.
