I am a chaotically organized person. Because of that, my poor desk is usually a mess, my brain is all over the place, and that’s just how I work. David gets annoyed with the clutter on my desk so he decided I needed more shelving. He was totally right. So together we came up with this idea for a floating stand. I knew I needed somewhere to put my new HP printer and I knew that I didn’t want it on my desk. I mean, it already spends half of it’s time cluttered. So off we headed to Walmart to buy a printer and the things we needed to get started on this project. I knew I wanted to go with an HP printer because they’re a perfect fit for our family, and it’s affordable. I ended up getting the NEW HP DeskJet 3636 All-in-One Printer. It comes in 3 colors: Vibrant Red, Dragonfly Blue, Sporty Purple. We chose the purple. After grabbing the printer, we headed towards the crafts to see what we could come up with. We found a two pack of wooden crates and knew exactly what we wanted to do with them.
You will need:
Paint the crates how you would like. We chose to use some of the leftover paint from when we did our new dining room table so that the crates would match. Once we painted them (the kids enjoyed getting to help on this), David put in the wall anchors and then screwed right through the shelf. We planned to hang both, but I ended up liking the printer being on its own stand under the one we mounted.
Paint. Let dry.
Put wall anchors in.
Screw the screws through the crate and into the anchors.
(Ignore that lamp, we have weird lighting in this part of the house and it’s neccerssary)
Once all was said and done, I hooked up my printer! I was SO excited to get it set up and ready for use. It was easy peasy to set up. I actually thought it didn’t print the first time I used it because it was such a quiet print. I never even heard the printer make a sound. I can connect straight to the printer and skip even having to connect to wifi. If that’s not cool, I don’t know what is! With back to school season right around the corner, it’s been perfect for printing off some schoolwork for the kids to help get them in the back to school mindset. They’ve been loving the printables I’ve found. And I can sit and watch tv while browsing Pinterest from my phone and print them without moving (and there’s a free app to help manage scanning, and printing tasks on the go). I print up to twice as many pages with Original HP high-yield ink cartridges. It’s fantastic! So convenient. Speaking of school, this printer would be perfect for dorm rooms, high school students, and really anybody! It’s perfect for us and our needs!
Which color HP printer would you choose? And what do you think of the crates? I personally love how they turned out. My desk is staying so much cleaner!
