Are you Holiday guest ready?! Don’t worry, I’m not either…. yet. Something about this whole past year we’ve just flown by the seat of our pants, which is not a fun way to live when you’re used to routine and schedules. It’s a weird adjustment, but makes me extra thankful for last minute deals and 2-day FREE shipping on household MUST HAVES like Viva, Scott, Kleenex, and Cottonelle brands.
Stocking up for guests isn’t something you really think about until you’ve had that awkward “you’re out of toilet paper” conversation for the bajilionth time with great aunt becky that you see maybe once a year. Sorry Aunt Becky, I was not prepared for your over-active bladder. My bad! So, some things I highly recommend YOU stock up on include: Kleenex, toilet paper, and paper towels. Seriously, it’s so easy to overlook these things. Extra people in the house means extra clean up, extra bathroom breaks, and Kleenex is always just a bonus to help your guests fight those change of weather germs that they’ve picked up during their visit. Extra Toilet Paper means you avoid those awkard “you’re out of toilet paper” conversations with those relatives you only see once a year. Avoid the awkward, stock up.
Because of the Holidays, I find it extra fun to grab the Holiday designs. I mean, that snowman was just too cute to pass up! Wouldn’t you feel a smidge better grabbing a tissue from a cute snowman than a plain box?! Maybe not, but hey. Can’t blame a girl for trying, right?!
What are some things you make sure to stock up on during the Holiday season? To be ready for guest? Do you buy the Holiday packaging too just because it’s cuter? I’m such a sucker. haha.

Y’all… it’s HOT! I mean…. H. O. T. HOT! My house is actually hotter inside than it actually is outside. I’m having Alaska flashbacks & missing the lake we’d take the kids to as a prebedtime cool off. Gotta love those AC-less older Colorado houses. *sigh* We’ve recently taken up this new thing we try to do nightly — a walk down the road to the park. It’s cooler outside, it wears the kids out before bed, it cools us all off, it gets us all outside for a bit, we get in a good mile walk, and it’s just a nice way to end the hot, hot, hot day.
With this extreme heat comes sweat and we all know that that’s no good for anybody. So, when we get home, I like to take a quick Olay Daily Facials Daily Clean 4-in-1 Water Activated Cleansing Cloths to my whole face & neck! These 4-in-1 water activated cloths are my so perfect for these hot summery days. After a quick hike, after a fishing trip, after whatever outdoor thing Colorado has thrown our way that particular day, these cloths are great to just quickly help scrub off the day.
Let’s chat real fast about the 4-in-1 formula
1. Cleanser – washes away the dirt and makeup from the day 2. Toner – tones skin with an essential cleansing formula 3. Mask – hydrates with specialized Olay conditioners 4. Scrub – exfoliates to smooth your skin’s surface
And they’re super (I mean SUPER) easy to use.
1. Wet with water 2. Rub to lather 3. Cleanse (even around the eyes) 4. Rinse (using cloth) 5. Throw in the trash
See, how easy right?! So, just go ahead & toss your old products and let these bad boys into your life.
Olay Daily Facials Daily Clean 4-in1 Water Activated Cleansing Cloths are textured with cleansing pockets to help gently break up & lift away oil, makeup, dirt, and even your mascara!
Your skin looks so good you can totally go out and about rocking a makeup free look! And these soap-free formula cloths are intended for all skin types. Win all around, huh?!

Today’s post is brought to you with the help of CK Mondavi Wines. All thoughts & opinions are my own.
I love a good BBQ get together, don’t you? Food smells amazing, it’s a nice day, you’re together with your group of friends, what could you not love about that?! Over our decade of Army life, David and I have hosted more than our fair share of BBQs and attended more than our fair share of BBQs.
So today, I thought I’d share with you some BBQ hosting tips as well as a simple dessert because game days and BBQ season are upon us!
Plan: I make a list of who we’re inviting and what food we want to make. Sometimes we have people bring things, and sometimes we don’t. Make sure you have a full menu, and appetizers, and desserts. People at BBQ love food. The more, the better. You’ll want drinks as well. Don’t forget something for kids, and adults.
Meal –> Burgers & Hotdogs, (the meat usually depends on the amount of people we have coming). Potato salad, Macaroni, Corn cobs,
Desserts –> Anything from ice cream to cake or cookies. It just depends on my mood, who’s coming, how many kids, etc etc. If it’s a larger BBQ, more people = more food, we usually skip desserts. I like simple desserts, grab & go. (This Monkey Bread is one of my go-tos)
Drinks –> We always offer up whatever we have in the fridge (juice, milk, water) but for BBQs we also set out beer, soda, and wine. (You know for wine, I’m gonna recommend CK Mondavi)
CK Mondavi has a game day special promotion going on until March 31st! It’s the perfect game-day wine, amazing quality and great taste! (Keep reading to see which pairs best with your food choices)
Next up, prep your yard. You don’t want people to hang out in your backyard if the grass hasn’t been cut, or if the dogs haven’t been cleaned up after… take a bit and just do some yard work. Make it look appealing, the best you can.
(tidy up inside too if you plan to entertain inside – if not, at least tidy up your bathroom)
Don’t forget the kids. If you know that there will be kids, try to plan something fun for them as well. I like to set up a DIY bubble station and I always stock up on chalk.
Entertainment –> Assuming there isn’t a game on to be watched, you’ll want to provide your guests with some entertainment of some sort. It doesn’t have to be anything too crazy. We usually just pull out the cornhole boards and people take turns with that. Other options include cards, darts, board games, etc etc. Just know your guests and plan for what they enjoy.
See, simple tips. Nothing major. Now onto the recipe I promised above.
Mini No-bake cheesecake bites
To make the crust you will need:
1 package of graham crackers (crushed up) 5 tablespoons of melted butter 1 tablespoon of sugar
Crush the graham crackers. Stir in the melted butter and sugar. Spread into mini muffin pan. Let sit in the fridge while prepping the filling.
For the filling you will need:
8 ounces of cream cheese (room temp) 1/2 can (14oz) sweetened condensed milk 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/8th cup lemon juice
Using an electric mixer, beat the cream cheese (medium-high) until smooth. Beat in condensed milk slowly, followed by the lemon juice and vanilla.
Spoon into crust, cover and refridgerate for an hour. Top with whatever you feel like topping them with. This time, I topped them with diced strawberries and caramel syrup.
CK Mondavi Sauvignon Blanc Tasting Notes: Sauvignon Blanc is always a crowd pleaser and pairs well with almost any food which is why its goes great with appetizers. CK Mondavi Pinot Grigio Tasting Notes: Pinot Grigio is bright with balanced acid and pairs well with seafood, chicken and light sauces. CK Mondavi Moscato Tasting Notes: Moscato is a sweet and juicy wine. Delicious with spicy foods or fruit.
Courtney! Do not read this post! It’ll ruin the surprise. haha
I’m a first-time Aunt and man, I love having a nephew! It’s so fun getting to shop for him. While I was at Target the other day grabbing a few things for the kids’ Valentine’s day, I thought about what to send baby Emmett. He’s a tiny little thing still, so I was stumped. I wandered aimlessly, grabbing a few things here and there and then realized I was done. Easier than I thought.
So I thought I’d share with you guys in case you were stumped for ideas. 🙂
Some little socks from the Dollar spot that’ll probably fall right off his feet, but they’re cute and only $1.
An outfit. Well, I grabbed a onesie. They live in Florida, it’s hot, he doesn’t need pants. And it was budget friendly, $5.
Also from the Dollar Spot, a plate and matching silverware. He won’t be able to use it himself for a bit still, but oh my goodness it was too cute to not grab.
It’s nothing major, but he’s a baby and it was budget friendly and fun.
You wake up to an alarm beeping in your ear, you press snooze… you eventually rag yourself out of bed a few minutes later and attempt to make some coffee before the morning chaos begins….
Too late though… in that 5 minutes of snooze time, your kids’ alarm clocks have woken them up. They’re asking for breakfast, you’re trying to explain to your daughter that tights just do not work as pants (We’ve had this conversation more than once) and why a long sleeve shirt is more practical than a short sleeve shirt in Winter to your son, you’re trying to drink your coffee while making breakfast only to hear, “I didn’t want that cereal/scrambled eggs/piece of toast, etc etc” Any of this sounding all too familiar?
Well, I can help….
Today I’m sharing a few tips to having a smooth morning.
Pick outfits for everybody the night before! Seriously, before you go to bed, check the weather for the following day & lay out an outfit for each kid! That way, they just wake up & get dressed! No struggle or argument on what to wear, no last minute searching for a sweater or socks. It’s so simple.
Start your day the right way. For me, that’s coffee and waking up before the kids. I take the time to make a good cup of coffee while the kids are still sleeping. I then sit and enjoy it without messing with anything work related or home related. I sit and sip while catching up on Facebook, or browsing Instagram or Pinterest. I need that 15/20 minutes to myself to just wake up. This morning, those few minutes were spent updating our chalkboard -I am still currently obsessed with that. After that, I prep my second cup and sit down at my computer to check my planner, catch up on emails, and then I get ready to get some work done. So do whatever it is that lets you have a relaxing start to the day.
Everybody gets the same breakfast, no questions asked or they feed themselves. Now this one might sound a little mean, but I promise you, it’s not. I’m obviously not going to feed all 3 of my kids something that they don’t like, but I know darn well that they all like cereal with marshmallows in it, or toast with the jelly that their Pa made from his apricot trees. Doing this takes the guess work out, it’s easy to mix it up throughout the week and then nobody says, “Oh! I wanted cereal, not toast” because they saw their brother eating cereal too.
Speaking of breakfast, keep a grab & go breakfast handy for those mornings that you have to rush out the door. For me, that’s preschool mornings… I get Fin & Maddie on the bus and off to school. I then shower and get ready while Owen is getting dressed. I grab my belVita Breakfast biscuit, a banana, my water cup and out the door we go! I munch on it while taking him to preschool or while sitting in the parking lot because I hit only one red light instead of 3 and got there early. These belVita Breakfast biscuits (click link to find a store near you) are perfect for grabbing & going. Unless it’s a weekend and I have time to cook/enjoy an actual breakfast, I usually just eat these. They come in various flavors and there is currently an Ibotta rebate you can take advantage of. (I used it just yesterday to restock on my belVita Breakfast biscuits)
