Hi, friends! Popping in today to show you my summer outfits, what they looked like, how I wore what, and more :p
Also I did my very best to find the matching products on Amazon (which is challenging because I’m a HUGE thrifter) but I did my best to provide you with links to purchase from in case you see something I’m wearing that you just NEED in your life too. The links used ARE affiliate links meaning that if you choose to order through these links, I’ll make a tiny (and I do mean TINY) commission from it.
No where in here am I claiming or pretending to be a fashion blogger. Haha. I just wear what I love, how I love to wear it and I love sharing those outfits here with y’all. (side note…. YOU ALL = y’all. NOT “ya’ll”. I have seen it spelled “ya’ll” too many times in the last few days)
Similar Skirt. (I grabbed mine this summer from Target but like the one linked better)
Chucks for under $50.
My Birkenstocks (I’m on year THREE of them and they’re still going strong!)
Similar dress (This one has pockets and mine does not)
Similar to the blue sweater I’m wearing with the floral dress.
Alaska grown shirt was thrifted, but here’s a TON of similar you can purchase.
Maroon dress was a Target clearance rack find, but this one is similar and now on my wishlist.
This is hard work, you guys. I dunno how fashion bloggers legit do this and remember where they’ve gotten what and when.
Also, do fashion bloggers ONLY wear new clothes? If so, what happens to their last year’s clothes that are still like cute this year?! I have so many questions.
This is also half the reason I thrift… If I get bored with it, it won’t hurt me to part with it because I only paid like $7 for the item. As often as I get bored with articles of clothing or shoes, thrifitng really is just perfect for me and my fashiony taste.
What about you? Stores or thrift finds?
Also, Poshmark is my new BFF. An app that I can thrift from?! YES, PLEASE!
Hi, friends! We’re back from our trip to Oklahoma. We make a yearly trip to visit the McCain family. I figured I’d pop in with a few photos from our trip and fourth of July. I hope you all have had a nice few weeks. I’m still trying to get back into the swing of HOME life. David headed back to class today (and thank goodness for it, it was Mexican food day! YUM!) We’ve restocked the refridgerator and cabinets. We’ve already been to the library and have a zoo trip planned. We’re normalling out again and it’s pretty nice.
You should know, Bo is just the best driver! *wink wink* In reality, he’s just quick to steal your seat when you move your butt from it. I get out to stretch and this happens. Haha.
Also, we stopped at a Super Target somewhere while in Oklahoma and spotted this fella. The kids had fun with him.
David and the kids lit off some smoke bombs. They’re gross and will temporarily dye your feet if you hold your foot over em long enough. Haha! Maddie almost went to our pedicure trip with a pink foot.
Cicada shells. Eww. The boys were obsessed with finding these suckers all over the yard. I remember our first trip out to Oklahoma, they CRIED over having to touch a shell and now they’re chasing each other around the yard with them. They even convinced Pa to decorate his beard with shells. haha. It was gross.
The amount of times we woke up to “Get off of me” and to see them LITERALLY shoving each other’s faces over because air mattresses deflate and you end up on top of whoever is next to you. haha. I laughed but felt their pain because been there, done that.
Also, brownies as big as his head make him very happy.
We basically spent a lot of our time swimming, making whirlpools, playing ‘monkey in the middle’ and hanging out. It was really nice to just be out of the city for a while.
Every year, Maddie & Ma (grandma) go for pedicures. I got the invite this year and loved every minute of it. We meant to get a group picture, but food became a priority after Renee’s (My MIL) manicure and our pedicures.
And that’s that. We’re home now like I said and settling in again.
It was a nice trip, but it’s nice to be home.

Good morning, friends. I come to you on this our 203958249674235th day of summer. I’m sitting at my computer, drinking my umpteenth cup of coffee (that’s already been reheated because summer) and I thought I’d pop in and share some of my favorite “survival” tips for summer break. *wink*
Tip #1 Send the kids outside to play. Trust me when I say that BOREDOM IS GOOD FOR THEM! I’ll repeat it. . . . BOREDOM IS GOOD FOR KIDS! Kids NEED to be bored so that they can grow from it. Imaginations come out during “boredom”. Encourage your kiddos to be bored, to find something to do, to put the technology down, to play outside. I watched my younger two play with beanie boo stuffed animals in our wheelbarrow for almost an hour.
Two stuffed animals and a wheelbarrow, y’all. That’s it. An HOUR of play!
Tip #2 As long as they’re fed, you’re good.
Listen… summertime is a strugglebus. We all know that. Some days are glorious and some just are NOT. Invest in frozen pizza. Red Baron is my go-to. It’s budget friendly, doesn’t taste like cardboard (you guys know the frozen pizza struggles, right?!). There have been so many days that I’ve forgotten about lunch. Thank goodness for the Red Baron stock pile I keep on hand now! They’ve been such a life-saver! And the kids just gobble them right up!
Tip #3 Tell that “Mom guilt” to jog off. I know you’ve probably seen the quotes about how you only get 18 summers with your kids and while that’s true-ish and kind of bittersweet, that does not under any circumstances mean that you need to feel mom guilt for anything they eat, how long they sleep, how much coffee you drink, how long they game for…. let that shit go, people! Summer breaks are just that…. summer break. And that means some days are adventurous and amazing. That also means that some just flat out fly by and it’s bedtime before you know where the day went. And some just flat out rub your wrong and you’re a grumpy pants all day. ALL OKAY! Be real. Don’t try to be the perfect Pinterest mom, you’ll just exhaust yourself and that’s no good for anyone.
For more than 40 years, Red Baron Pizza has helped moms calm mealtime chaos with a pizza the whole family loves because we know a better crust makes a better pizza, and we have the perfect crust.Red Baron Classic Crust pizza is not too thick, not too thin with a crispy, airy, flaky layered crust that makes it a classic. Available in 11 different flavors from fan-favorite Pepperoni to Chipotle Chicken.

What’s your SPF style? Are you a daily wearer? A beach-day-only kind of girl? What? Be honest with me.
I used to be a “only when actively outside” kind of SPF wearer, but then we moved to Colorado. Now everything we do is outdoorsy and SPF is my best friend. I am basically obsessing over Olay Whips with SPF 25.
Olay Whips often gets refered to as the “Unicorn of Moisturizers” but now it’s time to meet its SPF sister! Unlike other sunscrens, Whips with SPF has Active Rush Technology which holds and releases 1000x its weight in hydration, meaning it instantly absorbs into your skin. It feels light and moisturizing. You almost won’t even believe that its got SPF in it, it blends so beautifully with all skin tones and doesn’t leave any sticky feeling behind. Woo!
This multitasking bad boy contains SEVEN benefits in one! It’s jam packed full of viatmins, leaving your skin looking healthy, fast!
Adding this into my everyday routine has been a total no-brainer. It’s great for my skin, provides me some sun protection and it’s pretty budget friendly! Winning! Are you loving Olay Whips as much as I am? I grabbed mine from Walmart. You can grab yours there too or head here and grab it online.

If you’ve followed this blog for a while now, you know that my husband and I have been on a bit of a health kick. I don’t think “kick” is the proper word for it really, but we’ve definitely made healthier choices over the last year + for our family. Especially after the medical retirement and the medication that bumped David’s weight up higher than he’d ever seen it. Jumping on this 2 week Activia challenge was a no brainer for the both of us. (And there is a coupon for YOU when you click that link)
I am not the biggest fan of yogurt, but these daily probiotic drinks are quickly becomming an obsession of mine. They’re perfect for those grab & go mornings. I can drink one with my coffee, or in the car on the way to the zoo, or while walking to the local library. SO convienent. One of our biggest struggles with our healthy journey has simply been convienence. Sometimes it is just easier to grab fast food on our way out the door, or grab something quicker to eat. These have seriously helped with that problem! A banana & a daily drink and good to go! I love them. They’re such a little game changer.
It is so common to overlook the link between our gut and our brains, but the gut actually contains 10 times more health-determining bacteria than the rest of the body – protecting us from infection and illnesses. Introducing Activia Dailies. Now there’s a quick, easy and tasty way to enjoy your daily probiotics. A quick low fat yogurt drink packed with Activia’s billions of live and active probiotics!
“Be the change you wish to see” is the age old saying, but when we want to change our health and fitness habits, often times it can feel like our goals are unachievable. From handling mom duties to a full-time career, the hours or minutes in a day can quickly slip away, making it oh so easy to lose track of our goals.
I grabbed mine from my local Walmart and I have a coupon code for you! Head here to get an ibotta rebate —> Activia Challenge
You should have seen me and my “I don’t need a cart” pride trying to carry these around the store. HAHA! Just opt for the cart or basket, people. Don’t be “proud” like me. haha.
Again, head here to grab your coupons and learn more about Activia.
Summer break is in full force around here. David only has two days of college this semester, so we’ve been squeezing in all the fun adventures on non class days.
We visited our favorite fishing spot over Memorial Day weekend, and phew it was packed. It was a gorgeous day, a nice trip, and a fun time… we just remembered why we don’t go do much on holidays – so peopley.
We have made lots of trips to the local library already this year with many more in our future. The kids have discovered that they can ask the lady’s at the desk to help them find books and put books on hold for us. Maddie’s new favorite thing is to check to see if any of our holds are in – even though I get a notification when they come in, we still stop to check every time we go.
We’ve already done a fair amount of hiking this summer as well. We even saw a rattle snake a few hikes back. I can’t remember if I mentioned that here already or not.
David turned 33 earlier this month and we “surprised him” with a renewed zoo membership and a zoo trip. Owen was SO excited to finally get a picture with the otters. Ignore his end of the year shoes. haha. You know it’s summer time when shoes have holes and pants are too short. Haha.
And Bo loves boxes as usual.
Otherwise so far our summer has been hot & lazy & absolutely wonderful. I hope your summer has been enjoyable so far. 🙂
