Trying to hide that you’ve looked exhausted since 2008?! Me too! Mine probably started in 2007 when I gave birth to my first child. No amount of sleep prepares you for that. But today I want to introduce you to something that will help. Olay Whips.
Olay Whips is the unicorn of moisturizers. Not only does it hydrate something fierce, but it absorbs instantly into your skin meaning you can jump right into your makeup routine without having to wait around for your face to dry. It also continues to hydrate throughout the day for a dewy finish.
Olay Whips leaves your skin feeling wonderfully smooth. I’m talking like velvety smooth, y’all. It’s like a no primer, primer.
I’ve been using Total Effects.
It claims 7 skin benefits in one little tub: Actively replenishes nourishing moisture, evens skin tone appearance, enhances brightness, visibly smooths fine lines and wrinkles, minimizes the look of pores, restores firmness + visibly reduces dark spots. It is also formulated with VitaNiacin Complex II and Vitamins C & E to fight the early signs of aging. Winning, right there! Anti-aging anything is a win in my book. But the fact that it moisturizes as well, plus it’s totally budget friendly…. major win all around. Don’t you think? Do you currently have a favorite moisturizer and/or primer? Let me know if you’d try this & switch it up! I’m excited to hear why or why not.
You can get your Whips from Wal-Mart here #WalmartBeauty #AwardWorthyBeauty #FeelTheWhip.
It’s 2018, y’all…. It’s February…. My words (yup, wordS) for the year…. “SELF CARE” I am putting myself first. Okay, not really…but I’m moving me up on the food chain and I feel like that’s a HUGE step in itself.
There’s a moment when we realize how important self-care truly is. It is SO easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle of life, but that’s where self-care comes in. There comes this moment usually followed shortly after a breakdown (or 20) that we truly decide that it’s time to take better care of ourselves, as women, as mothers, as wives, as people. Self-care is important.
You realize that going to bed a little earlier isn’t such a tragic thing.
You learn that veggies and fruits are part of a well-balanced diet.
You start cutting out the processed food a bit and just being more conscience overall about the stuff you’re putting in/on your body.
You skincare routine shouldn’t be any different! Take care of the outside as well as the inside. Use a cleanser that actually helps improve your skin. Let me help with that by introducing y’all to Olay Cleansing Infusions – the first cleansing solution for the face AND body. These babes work their hardest to draw out the impurities and bring in hydration for naturally glowing skin.
The facial cleansers are:
Olay MicropolishingCleansing Infusion Hydrating Glow Facial Cleanser with Crushed Ginger & Citrus Extract
Olay Cleansing Infusion Hydrating Glow Facial Cleanser with Deep Sea Kelp & Aloe Extract
The body cleansers are:
Olay Microscrubbing Cleansing Infusion Hydrating Glow Body Wash with Crushed Ginger
Olay Cleansing Infusion Hydrating Glow Body Wash with Deep Sea Kelp
These are non-stripping cleansers that contain biorenewing hydrators that improve your skin’s condition as you wash, revealing your natural glow.
Crushed ginger body & facial cleansers contain exfoliators that break down as you wash, creating a micropolishing effect that
reveals a smooth surface for healthy looking and feeling skin.
Clinically proven to enhance skin’s radiance after just one use (as tested using Olay’s unique chromometer technology).
How awesome is that, right?!
Other ways to Glow up and make sure your skin is looking at it’s BEST – make sure you’re drinking plenty of water. H2O is a big key to hydration. Exfoliate once or twice a week. Massage your facial products in. Clean your makeup brushes. Wear sunscreen. Clean your phone! A dirty phone makes for a dirty face. Wear blush. Weird, right?! But a pop of color can make your skin look more awake. Get plenty of sleep. Take your makeup off at the end of the day. Drink your water, eat those fruits and veggies (Watermelon is my favorite go-to,), cut down on the alcohol, and just glow.
We all know that moving can be such a pain in the bum. But a move in the middle of winter?! UGH! Big, fat UGH. Have you ever moved in the Winter? Our little family has, and a lot of our friends’ have moved during the winter season. There’s just a lot more thought that needs to go into it. Thankfully, the people over at CORT hit the nail on the head with their post about “Top 7 tips for a winter PCS move”. Top 7 Tips for a Winter PCS Move
Did you know that Winterizing your car was a thing?! It was not something that crossed my mind until we found out we were getting sent to live in Alaska for a few years. Thankfully we bought a new (and already winterized) vehile once w actually got up there, but I had NO clue we would even need a winterized vehicle.
Another helpful tip, make connections locally. In today’s world, this isn’t really a challenging thing to do. The internet makes a GREAT source for meeting new people & making new friends. When we first got our orders to Alaska, I joined a local AK group and met a few people. I only joined to get tips to help prepare myself to move to a totally different climate than what I was used to (Tennessee girl), but also on how to prepare with tiny babies! (Fin was 2 and Maddie wasn’t even 1 yet). Thankfully, through that internet group, I met a few ladies that were so beyond helpful! Two of which I’m still really close to now, years and years later.
Winterizing and connecting are just TWO of the SEVEN wonderful tips put together by CORT Furniture Rental. Read those tips and more right here –> Top 7 Tips for a Winter PCS Move
Are you Holiday guest ready?! Don’t worry, I’m not either…. yet. Something about this whole past year we’ve just flown by the seat of our pants, which is not a fun way to live when you’re used to routine and schedules. It’s a weird adjustment, but makes me extra thankful for last minute deals and 2-day FREE shipping on household MUST HAVES like Viva, Scott, Kleenex, and Cottonelle brands.
Stocking up for guests isn’t something you really think about until you’ve had that awkward “you’re out of toilet paper” conversation for the bajilionth time with great aunt becky that you see maybe once a year. Sorry Aunt Becky, I was not prepared for your over-active bladder. My bad! So, some things I highly recommend YOU stock up on include: Kleenex, toilet paper, and paper towels. Seriously, it’s so easy to overlook these things. Extra people in the house means extra clean up, extra bathroom breaks, and Kleenex is always just a bonus to help your guests fight those change of weather germs that they’ve picked up during their visit. Extra Toilet Paper means you avoid those awkard “you’re out of toilet paper” conversations with those relatives you only see once a year. Avoid the awkward, stock up.
Because of the Holidays, I find it extra fun to grab the Holiday designs. I mean, that snowman was just too cute to pass up! Wouldn’t you feel a smidge better grabbing a tissue from a cute snowman than a plain box?! Maybe not, but hey. Can’t blame a girl for trying, right?!
What are some things you make sure to stock up on during the Holiday season? To be ready for guest?
Do you buy the Holiday packaging too just because it’s cuter? I’m such a sucker. haha.
Don’t forget the Viva Ibotta rebate, the Scott ibotta rebate, the Kleenex ibotta rebate, or even this Kleenex ibotta rebate.
There’s also this Cottonelle one or this Cottonelle rebate. Another Kleenex rebate, this too, and here’s one more Scott rebate for you.
Who doesn’t love a great philly?!
We love food. We love to make food. We love to eat food. Most of the time we choose to eat at home, it’s honestly because we know we can make it better than the local restuarant. So, the other day we were at Albertsons doing a bit of shopping and were so excited to grab these flavors of Great Midwest Cheese.
Chicken (boiled in chicken broth, salt and pepper, then shredded)
Buns of some sort. We actually meant to grab Hoagie buns, but grabbed sausage rolls by mistake. haha. They worked, they were delicious
Great Midwest cheese (We used Habenero Jack & Jalapeno Jack)
Butter & milk to melt cheese down.
Garlic, salt & pepper (to taste-while typing this, my husband informed me that this was “cullinary terminology”)
For these sandwiches, we chose to melt down our cheese to drizzle over the top of the sandwiches. Melting cheese in a pot is pretty simple really, melt a bit of butter, add some flour, some hot milk, cheese. Stir, stir, stir. Don’t let it get too hot though.
Once the chicken was shredded, we threw it into a skillet with the cooked bacon, the peppers, a bit of garlic, salt, & pepper. Stir, cook til peppers are done and tender.
Start assembling plates. (We paired our with french fries).
Once you’ve got your chicken mix onto your buns, add the cheese.
Serve and enjoy.
Head here to check out all the other tasty cheese flavors.
I love October. It’s officially Fall, Halloween is right around the corner, it’s pumpkin carving time, the world is changing colors around us. I mean, I think if I had to pick a favorite month, it’d be October.Halloween wins hands down. We’re a bit Halloween obsessed in this house. We just love it. It’s so fun, spooky, creative, tasty, colorful… I mean so many adjectives describe Halloween and October. Anyway, I’ve gotten side tracked with my October/Halloween love. We went pumpkin picking this past weekend (say that 3x fast). We just grabbed some from Walmart because as a family of 5 pumpkin patches just seem a bit pricier than going to Walmart. Plus, I needed to grab a few food items and other things while there. Win, win, right?!
While there, we made sure to grab up a few things to help us get through the rest of this month: quick fixing foods because phew. Next week is Parent Teacher conferences meaning we won’t even get home until like 7pm. As the nights get busy, the food gets quicker and I’m SO thankful for convenient foods easily found at Walmart. We grabbed up some Ballpark Hotdogs (100% beef), some Tyson Any’Tizers,Tyson Crispy Strips (100% white meat, no antibiotics) and some State Fair Corndogs (no by products, great source of protein).
So, after our adventures in Walmart, we headed home to get our carving on. Yay! I popped some Any’Tizers in the oven for a quick snack while we set up and then we prepped the rest of the food and the house for our carving friends to arrive.
Overall, we had a blast! The food was a HUGE hit. I thought my kiddos were going to BURST at the seems waiting (not so) patiently to get to eat their “fingers” haha.
It was so funny to see the designs created. Owen went with a dragon. Maddie went with a ghost but then broke her pumpkin (toothpicks to the rescue) and Fin did a bug thing. David took control over our pumpkin (win for me, I was just left to cook & take photos). Our pumpkin is a goofy looking fella.
What do you think? Have you ever hosted a Pumpkin Carving party? It was so much fun! And I had a BLAST creating those little finger *wink* foods.
