Y’all… it’s HOT! I mean…. H. O. T. HOT! My house is actually hotter inside than it actually is outside. I’m having Alaska flashbacks & missing the lake we’d take the kids to as a prebedtime cool off. Gotta love those AC-less older Colorado houses. *sigh* We’ve recently taken up this new thing we try to do nightly — a walk down the road to the park. It’s cooler outside, it wears the kids out before bed, it cools us all off, it gets us all outside for a bit, we get in a good mile walk, and it’s just a nice way to end the hot, hot, hot day.
With this extreme heat comes sweat and we all know that that’s no good for anybody. So, when we get home, I like to take a quick Olay Daily Facials Daily Clean 4-in-1 Water Activated Cleansing Cloths to my whole face & neck! These 4-in-1 water activated cloths are my so perfect for these hot summery days. After a quick hike, after a fishing trip, after whatever outdoor thing Colorado has thrown our way that particular day, these cloths are great to just quickly help scrub off the day.
Let’s chat real fast about the 4-in-1 formula
1. Cleanser – washes away the dirt and makeup from the day
2. Toner – tones skin with an essential cleansing formula
3. Mask – hydrates with specialized Olay conditioners
4. Scrub – exfoliates to smooth your skin’s surface
And they’re super (I mean SUPER) easy to use.
1. Wet with water
2. Rub to lather
3. Cleanse (even around the eyes)
4. Rinse (using cloth)
5. Throw in the trash
See, how easy right?! So, just go ahead & toss your old products and let these bad boys into your life.

Renewing our zoo pass was probably one of the best purchases of 2017 so far. Fin pet a snake! And then a lizard. We’ve gone 4x since renewing it. One trip would have cost our large-ish family about the same amount it cost us to renew our yearly membership. We’ve gone 4x already since renewing! Isn’t that insane? It’s such a nice little get out of the house “free” thing to do.
I swatched my hand with a few LipSense colors on Tuesday morning. I gave the dog a bath that afternoon. Didn’t budge. Side note: it’s Thursday and I still have more color than not on my hand. Here’s my group if you’d like to join & want to learn more.
I ordered this for Fin because you can’t be $4 and free 2-day shipping. I planned to save it for a birthday gift, buuuuuuut someone (David) ripped it open, and yelled “FIIIIIINNNNN!!!!!” haha.
Bo being Bo. He doesn’t realize that he’s a dog.
The people of Harry’s sent me and David new razors. I seriously love them. David does too. He uses his to clean up his neck. He was really hesitant to try it because razors in the past have always broken him out. He woke up the day after first trying it and showed me his neck — nothing. No breakout, no rash, nothing! It was great.
Mine is the orange (showering handle)
David’s isn’t made for the shower.
They’re also offering you a shave club free trial — get a Truman razor handle, razor blade, travel blade cover, and travel sized foaming shave gel for free –just cover the $3 shipping. TOTALLY worth it! The kit comes with soooooo much!
And happy (almost) weekend, friends!
I can’t even begin to tell you how much I loved this book. I’m Judging You by Luvvie Ajayi says what so many of us are thinking. DO BETTER. We can and we should. I’m Judging You is Luvvie doing what she does best and that’s giving her unfiltered take on World issues.
Seriously, I’m Judging You is such a great read. I don’t feel it’s making fun of people. She judges herself, first and foremost. One of the reviews I read on Amazon summed it up perfectly…. “The mandatory reading for all who have a pulse and a data plan!” I can not tell you enough that you should read this.
Luvvie says what a lot of us are thinking, just without a filter… or what a lot of us are saying behind closed doors. The last line of the book is: “We just need to start now. We can start doing better anytime we want.” Start doing better, folks.
(My 4 year old is my photographer and notice the dog in the chair. My house runs backwards apparently)
More reasons to love Luvvie Ajayi include:
Her website Awesomely Techie is a great resource for writers, small business owners, bloggers, and anyone who uses technology to make their lives more efficient.=. Luvvie was on Oprah’s inaugural Supersoul 100 list. Luvvie was honored as 2016’s Influencer of the Year at the Iris Awards. I personally love that she’s equally addicted to shoes as well as social justice. She combined those two in 2009 when she and Karyn Brianne Lee founded the Red Pump Project. And, she is a past winner of the Women’s Media Center’s Social Media Award for using her voice and humor for pop culture critique, gender and racial justice. What is NOT to love about Luvvie?!

I was sent this book to review but all thoughts are totally that of my own.
I hope you’re all doing really well today. Me, I’m a tad bit sleepy. 4am wake ups are just NO fun. I have a ton of thoughts running through my head, so bare with me while I try to get today’s post out. If you’ve been a follower of my blog for a bit now, you’ve probably heard me talk about Monica McGurk and her books before. Today I’m here to tell you my thoughts on her 3rd book, Dark Before Dawn.
Okay, now that you’ve caught up… OMG you guys.
“It’s darkest before the dawn . . . and that can be very dark indeed.
Twelve years have passed since Hope Carmichael helped fulfill the ancient prophecy that permitted the Fallen Angels to return, forgiven, to Heaven. Now a lawyer at twenty-eight, Hope—along with a resurrected Michael, the archangel who loves her—has been presented by Heaven with a choice: one that could either result in Hope never seeing her family again, or the world losing its greatest angelic protector. At the same time, Hope’s young sister Aurora struggles to help a school friend resolve her dark personal issues, all while being observed by a sinister adversary from Hope’s past, working on a plan for revenge that may soon plunge the entire extended Carmichael family into tragedy.
The culmination of the saga begun in Dark Hope and continued in Dark Rising, Dark Before Dawn returns to the world of the Archangel Prophecies, telling one final story of adventure, moral urgency, and the ultimate choice Hope and Michael make between the human and the divine.”
I am honestly not even sure how to go into this without giving away too much of the book away. Is it acceptable to review this and just tell you that you NEED to read it? Once again, Monica has just outdone herself. This book (along with the previous two) are just amazing, dark, hopeful…. an overall great read. Dark Before Dawn will not disappoint. It takes a dark turn that will have you stunned and glued to the pages.
Once again, Monica McGurk has managed to make me feel like I’m right there along with Hope & Michael as they finish up their adventure. SHe dove head first into a story that needed to be told. I highly recommend that you pick up this trilogy! You will not be disappointed.
Be sure to Follow Monica on Twitter and let her know how excited you are about this book!
Today’s post is sponsored by Viviscal, but all opinions are my own.
Guys, let’s be real. Most of us have suffered from hair loss or hair thinning of some sort. Whether it’s due to stress, childbirth, or whatever it may be, I’m sure that I am not alone in saying that hair thinning stinks. It’s depressing, and it’s a hit to your self-esteem. So today I wanted to share various suggestions to help you maintain healthy hair.
Regularly trim your hair. By trimming unhealthy split ends you will have less breakage and flyaways, making your hair look thicker and shinier.
Eat a healthy diet. This just helps with everything.
Try vitamins. Biotin vitamins are great for hair, nails, and skin.
Hair masks. I like to a coconut oil/lemon juice mix about once a week. Obviously, we all love coconut oil, but did you know that it helps moisturize the scalp and fight off infections? The lemon juice helps clean my scalp of dandruff/dry skin. I leave it on for about an hour if I can and then rinse it out.
Hair care products. Shampoos and conditioners you can use that promote healthy hair growth and thickness.
My friends over at Viviscal offer (and sent me, YAY) a wide range of hair growth products. They offer shampoo, conditioner, a densifying elixer, hair growth vitamins, and some conceal & densify volumizing fibers (that you can even match to your hair color). Viviscal isn’t just for women, they have a whole line dedicated to men as well. Isn’t that awesome?!
And to make this day even cooler, Vivscal wants to give away a Viviscal Gorgeous Growth Densifying Shampoo that gently cleanses for thicker looking, gorgeous hair. Just enter below.
If you follow me on snapchat, I’m sure you’ve seen me talk about my hair growth. It’s insane and all over the place, but I love each and every little baby hair that’s growing in.
This post is brought to you by KidloLand but all opinions are my own.
Have you guys heard of the app, KidloLand? Kidloland is a nursery rhyme app. The free version offers 3 songs and 12 activities to try. If you subscribe, you can get access to over 500+ Nursery Rhymes, songs, activities, and games. I’ve had it for about two weeks now and have nothing but good things to say about it. It’s full of Nursery Rhymes, songs, and games for kids. It’s geared for kids ages 0-5, but all three of mine love it. I’ve even caught Fin starring over Owen’s shoulder watching him play around.
The app itself is simple enough to use for parents and children. Owen’s figured it out like a pro. I think it took me longer to work it than it did him. This app is a great way to push education through app play. My kids love screen time, but I try to keep it to a minimum, so I’m very thankful for an app like that that lets them learn while they play.
I love that this app is so interactive. It doesn’t just play the songs for the kids, It holds my kids’ attention. Unlike most apps that they get bored with after a short period of time, KidloLand allows the child to play while learning. For example, in the song “The Wheels on the Bus”, you can beep the horn, you can tap the people and they jump in their seat, etc etc. The app even tells you where to click.
It’s such a neat little app! The people of KidloLand were also kind enough to host a giveaway. Enter below to win a 3 month subscription to KidloLand! There will be 5 winners. Good luck.
