It’s 2018, y’all…. It’s February…. My words (yup, wordS) for the year…. “SELF CARE” I am putting myself first. Okay, not really…but I’m moving me up on the food chain and I feel like that’s a HUGE step in itself.
There’s a moment when we realize how important self-care truly is. It is SO easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle of life, but that’s where self-care comes in. There comes this moment usually followed shortly after a breakdown (or 20) that we truly decide that it’s time to take better care of ourselves, as women, as mothers, as wives, as people. Self-care is important. You realize that going to bed a little earlier isn’t such a tragic thing. You learn that veggies and fruits are part of a well-balanced diet. You start cutting out the processed food a bit and just being more conscience overall about the stuff you’re putting in/on your body.
You skincare routine shouldn’t be any different! Take care of the outside as well as the inside. Use a cleanser that actually helps improve your skin. Let me help with that by introducing y’all to Olay Cleansing Infusions – the first cleansing solution for the face AND body. These babes work their hardest to draw out the impurities and bring in hydration for naturally glowing skin.
The facial cleansers are: Olay MicropolishingCleansing Infusion Hydrating Glow Facial Cleanser with Crushed Ginger & Citrus Extract Olay Cleansing Infusion Hydrating Glow Facial Cleanser with Deep Sea Kelp & Aloe Extract
The body cleansers are: Olay Microscrubbing Cleansing Infusion Hydrating Glow Body Wash with Crushed Ginger Olay Cleansing Infusion Hydrating Glow Body Wash with Deep Sea Kelp
These are non-stripping cleansers that contain biorenewing hydrators that improve your skin’s condition as you wash, revealing your natural glow. Crushed ginger body & facial cleansers contain exfoliators that break down as you wash, creating a micropolishing effect that reveals a smooth surface for healthy looking and feeling skin. Clinically proven to enhance skin’s radiance after just one use (as tested using Olay’s unique chromometer technology).
How awesome is that, right?!
Other ways to Glow up and make sure your skin is looking at it’s BEST – make sure you’re drinking plenty of water. H2O is a big key to hydration. Exfoliate once or twice a week. Massage your facial products in. Clean your makeup brushes. Wear sunscreen. Clean your phone! A dirty phone makes for a dirty face. Wear blush. Weird, right?! But a pop of color can make your skin look more awake. Get plenty of sleep. Take your makeup off at the end of the day. Drink your water, eat those fruits and veggies (Watermelon is my favorite go-to,), cut down on the alcohol, and just glow.
Happy whatever the heck today is, friends. Seriously though, can someone tell me what day it is? I feel like the past couple of weeks have been NOTHING but a blur! It’s been a total mix of busy days and lazy days, but with David off work & the kids out of school, my days are totally all jumbled up. In all of the excitement and craziness though, I have to admit that our eating habits have taken a MAJOR dive.
If you remember, (mentioned here) every Christmas, mom would spend days baking in the kitchen and we’d spend one long day out delivering goodies & singing carols to the neighbors. I look back on it fondly now, but I remember HATING having to sing to everyone we knew! I was always so embarrassed! haha.
This year, we did the same thing — made LOTS of treats and walked our little block passing them out. The kids ended up only having to sing “Jingle Bells” twice because a lot of people weren’t home or just didn’t answer their door.
However, since my mom cooks for an army (she had 4 kids), we had TONS of leftovers! Pair that with the amount of fudge I just devoured for myself after baking the butterscotch fudge, I think it’s high time we switch our eating habits back around and kick off 2016 right.
Do you blame me?! I’ve seen so many funny memes about the first two weeks of January being prime gym time and I can’t help but laugh. I hate working out, I don’t like to sweat, but I do love to eat healthy foods. I can always tell a difference in how my body feels when I’ve eaten a salad for lunch vs a frozen burrito or something like that.
I’m so thankful for the new “Better for You Lunchbox” booklet that’s on 1 million packages of Del Monte® Fruit Cups, $6.25 in instant coupon savings from great lunchbox brands including: Del Monte®Pepperidge Farm®, Welch’s®, Diamond Foods, NatureSmart, Saputo®,and Musco® Olives. That little bit of savings is amazing and makes a huge differene in the long run! I love that they’re offering this, because these are the perfect go-to items for lunch box making!
So here’s to a new year, a new you, a new me, and lunch box resolutions! *cheers*
No, it’s not a baby. Don’t get me wrong, I love babies & I love being pregnant, but we’re stopping at three.
In other news: COMING IN 2015 and random resolutions.
To the blog: An outfit post a week! GASP! I know, right?! I figured though, I get dressed every day, why not document my outfits?! I love the way I dress, I very rarely match but I like it that way & I’m all over the place when it comes to fashion, but I’m me and I want to share that with you. Recipes: I’m hoping to get 2 up a month, at least. Again, this is something I do daily, so I figure at least 2 a month on the blog shouldn’t be hard, right?! Once a month: A hair tutorial because I have hair. A Vlog because why not and at least one craft post per month to keep thing interesting.
I’ve also made goals for myself to reach when it comes to followers and page views so let’s hope I can reach these goals by the end of 2015. They’re nothing too far fetched, I don’t think but I didn’t want to aim too high & let myself down. If you’d like to help with those though, make sure you follow me on social media channels. Youtube. Instagram. Facebook. Twitter. Pinterest. Google +. Bloglovin.
Also coming to the blog soon, a new design! Hooray! I’m super excited about this one!
As far as New Year’s Resolutions go, January 1st is just another day. I love the idea of a new year, a new book, etc etc, but in reality it’s just another day. I do however hope to achieve my blog goals, read more, be healthier overall (finally healing up nicely from the tummy tuck and can start to workout and be more active thankfully), and just hopefully be more organized & a little less all over the place than I normally am.
And with that being said, happy 2015 folks! I hope you’re as excited about things as I am! What are you most excited about in 2015?
Amber here. I just wanted to let you know that I look forward to you. I have good feelings about you and hope I’m right about them.
2014, I see us getting along beautifully. In our future I see: A haircut. An exciting new online adventure. A healthier lifestyle. Better and more frequent blog posts. A cleaner and more organized home. Happier kids (Not that they’re not happy now, but striving for more seems like a good thing) Better and stronger friendships. Spending a little more time focusing on myself. (I seem to so easily get lost in motherhood and wife that I forget to just be ME). Better financial planning. More date nights with my lover. Trying new things. Saying YES more. Taking on more fun projects. Being more open. Helping others more. (52 weeks my butt- I can do better than that!) Being kinder. Participating in more functions at the kids’ school. Being a better friend. More books. New recipes.
Out with the old, in with the new. Happy 2014, my friends. Best of luck to you with all of your resolutions.
Let me also say this: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SPEND MONEY TO BE KIND. There are tons of ideas on here that don’t require any spending and others that do.

You do not have to have money for a lot of these. You do not even have to leave your house for some of them. The littlest things go a long way. If you’ve ever been on the receiving end of a good deed, you know what I’m talking about. Just be kind. Spread the love. Encourage others to do the same. Brighten someone’s day. Easy peasy!
In the spirit of New Year’s Eve, I thought I’d jump on the bandwagon and share my resolutions. But before we go there, let’s talk about last year’s resolutions.
Here are last year’s resolutions:
1.Do at least one good deed a week & come blog about it (hopefully that’ll force me to try to stick with it) –it only took me a year to come up with the 52 weeks project. shame on me
2.Comment more/stalk less. -I’m totally a blog stalker and noncommenter. Let’s fix that! –I think I’ve improved a bit.
3.Actually stick to a workout routine. -I never really have because I knew we’d have more bittles. Now that Baby O is here, I believe we are DONE and it’s time to get my body back! –ha! did not even happen! Moving, settling, etc etc, nope.
4.Eat better. -Not that we eat terribly now, but more fruits and veggies is always a good thing. –done.
5.Do more with my bittles. -Explore more, get them out & about, let them be young. –I’ve accomplished this but could still do better at it.
6.FINISH at LEAST one book a month. -My poor bookshelf and kindle miss me. They told me so. –they still miss me.
7.Less time online.-Good grief, much needed. –still need to work on this one. I’ve improved though.
8.Start a bucket list -self explanatory. –go look at my pinterest board here. (and accomplishments here)
9.Spoil myself a bit. -In all honesty, I spoil the hubs and the bittles but the most I usually buy for myself is a box of hair dye or some thrift store finds or crafty what nots to make cutsie stuff for the house, others or the bittles. –Yup. I’ve actually done better on this and I’m kinda proud of myself.
10. Love more, worry less. –this should be #1 on my list. I’ve done better but there is ALWAYS room for improvement here.
11. be me. -Too often I find myself being cautious of what I say or do or wear. It needs to end. –see #10’s answer.
Now let’s move on to this year’s resolutions. Honestly, it’s quite a bit the same as last year’s was.
I’d add inn: 12: Be more organized! Because OhMyGoodness I need organization in my life. 13: Stick to a schedule. We’ve done up and tested a few different schedules for ourselves and the kids and try to time them out with meals and snacks and bedtime and try to find a good balance of play time and learning time and time that we get to just squeeze in our own time and I think we’ve finally found a decent one. Hopefully it works out well once Fin starts school back up. 14: Attend a blogger meet up!
