When we first moved to Colorado Springs, we looked into zoo memberships, aquarium memberships, etc etc. All the things we knew we’d need while living here. The zoo membership price almost scared us off, but honestly it paid for itself within the first TWO visits. Do you know how often we go to the zoo? Sometimes just David & I go –KID FREE–. Sometimes we take all the kids. Heck, we’ve even gone with 1/3 or 2/3 of the kids. We LOVE the zoo. We take a different route everytime we walk around it, we choose which animals we want to hang out with that day, and we just go.
How often do you get to visit a zoo? What’s your favorite animal to see?
I’m on this kick of sharing photos/outfits I’ve worn. Not in a fashion blogger type of way, but just in a “these are my clothes, I feel cute and the world should see” kind of way. haha.
Since droppping some MAJOR poundage, my wardrobe is constantly changing & growing. It’s weird and kind of irritating if I’m being honest with you guys. It’s just a lot of work to revamp a wardrboe on a SUPER tight budget, but when you HAVE to because NONE of your clothes fit… well, thrift stores to the rescue! haha.
No, but seriously… I’ve always been a thrifter. Call me “frugal” or “cheap” but in reality, I just can’t see spending full price on something that I can pick up for a small percentage of full price from a thrift store. The other day I came across a pair of sweatpants from Abercrombie & Fitch with NEW STORE TAGS still on em. I paid $6.99 for them. Scooped them up SO fast though.
Now that doesn’t mean that I never buy new – I totally do. BUT when it’s time for a new winter wardrobe for everyone, (because kids grow sooooooo fast) we head to a thrift store. We grab a few tops/bottoms for each of us. WIN all around. The other day we spent $108 on a new winter coat for Owen & myself. A hoodie, pants, a shirt for Fin. Pants, a shir for Owen. A sweater, shirt, pants for Maddie. 3 pairs of pants for me. 1 pair for David and some shirts for us. We had like 20 items ….. $108. <– that’s why I thrift shop. My 3 pants would’ve costed me $100+ had I bought them new.
See my jeans & ear warmer below? Totally snagged those up brand new from a new boutique. <-- not sponsored in any way. I just REALLY love my jeans & ear warmer & the prices were great.
So, out of all of the above – which pieces are your favorites? Which would you wear? Are you a thrifter too? Tell me the coolest thing you’ve ever thrifted!
Phew, it’s been a long weekend. It’s technically not over for us yet… David & the kids are still off today (Tuesday). Did you have a 4-day weekend too?
On Saturday, I played with LipSense colors while the kiddos did some chores, and yardwork and David was in class. College classes on Saturday are really weird, by the way … I mean that in the sense that they’ve thrown off my whole sense of what day of the week it is. School on Saturday?! Nonsense!
On Sunday we headed to the park, and the library (both within walking distance of us – yay!). We stopped in the big field by the park to let Fin test his drone only to discover the batteries were almost dead and it wouldn’t even lift itself up. Oh well, onward to the library.
Once at the library, we all scatter. David headed off to print some things. The kids ran off into the kid section, and I stood outside of the kiddie section browwsing their new fiction.
If you have any book recommendtions, send them my way… PLEASE!
Maddie had a field day with the little fairy felt board. Phew, say that 3x fast.
Monday consisted of an early morning Zoo trip and then being bums at home.
How was your Labor Day? Your weekend? Anything exciting happen? I’d love to hear about it!!
Broken collarbones are lame. He’s a trooper and totally fine. He landed on it wrong playing at the park.
Cat has been a turd lately. He ran out the backdoor last night into the rain and then again earlier today.
My phone is so full of random selfies. Thus the life of a LipSense distributor. I make myself LOL
Owen asked me to take a picture of him cuddling with Missy. Little goober. Ignore the unswept floor (it had been swept that morning, like EVERY SINGLE morning, but dogs & kids & dogs & kids & dogs & kids & you see my point here…)
And last but not least, precollarbone — look at that smile! This kid never smiles in photos but he’s got the greatest genuine smile. So nice to catch it oh camera from time to time. Btw – collarbone is healed. He’s out of the splint. We’re on week 4 and just waiting for his last checkup/”all clear”
I guess I could’ve alternately titled this post, “photos of Fin – the kids you never see”. Did you forget I had three? haha. It’s usually just Maddie & Owen that are my camera ready ones. That’s all I’ve got for y’all today – summer = MYPOORBRAIN.
Side note again — kids talk a lot… side note again — so do husbands actually.
When does school start again? I’m totally asking for a friend 😉
Hi, guys! It’s almost July, so I figured I’d pop in with a quick life update for you… it’s good! ha, no… Life is good, but it’s still weird. It’s still definitely an adjustment. David suffers from cabin fever now that he’s home more which is never a good thing, especially when your wife is a homebody that hates last minutes plans and anything involving driving in this ridiculously overpoppulated town after noon.
Chores to earn screen time. Bo love.
Milkshakes & Mom life (haha, no the bottom photo is actually just a picture of me HOT & thankful for a new fan)
Maddie’s fish died. I mean, the one we brought home from her school – that they grew in class. Fred died. Now, while we had Fred, we also had 2 other guppies & 2 goldfish — those all got toilet funerals. Fred however, got buried in the backyard & Maddie made him a tombstone.
I basically do nothing but laundry these days. I mean, it’s NEVER ENDING which is absurd because we don’t even really leave the house and it’s too hot to wear a ton of clothes. WHERE DOES ALL THE LAUNDRY COME FROM?!
Park trips with friends from preschool are super fun! It’s also fun when Daddy & Fin take off down the road MID DINNER MAKING to hunt down the ice cream truck.
My friend, Melissa grabbed & mailed me this tank — isn’t it perfect?! I love it! LEGO building is always neccessary.
Chalk is always fun.
Girafee feeding & then kids feeding themselves … Owen totally helped me make Brinner – he did his own eggs.
Park trips are a must when it’s almost bedtime, 1,000 degrees in your house & only 80 outside.
And when it’s Father’s Day but Daddy has college homework…. we go on early morning outings and play in sand and water, while David snaps photos.
Also, here’s the photo he was taking when I was taking his photo :p
That’s what life on our end has looked like + about a cajillion selfies because that’s what I do now. Haha. I hope you enjoyed these pictures and this little peak into our life lately. And I really hope all is GOOD with you 🙂
