May is National Pet month and you guys know that we have three pets, two larger dogs and a one-eyed cat.
They are messy. They’re messier than the three kids. Missy’s favorite activity is to play in the dirt while waiting for the neighborhood squirrel to arrive for the day. Bo loves to nap in the sun and doesn’t get as messy and Missy, but he loves a good run around the yard and with them big paws, he picks up all the dirt. Cat doesn’t go outside (despite all the several times he’s tried and then freaked himself out once out there), but cats are pretty gross too. Hairballs. . . ugh.
In order to keep up with clean up (which is basically impossible) I grabbed a Libman Wonder Mop from Walmart (the Microfiber GRIPSTRIPS™ sold me in choosing which mop to go with, they lift up to 20% more dirt) put it to the dirty floor test. I also sang into it while dancing around the living room and kitchen, but that’s neither here nor there really. Who doesn’t at some point break out into a little song and/or dance while cleaning?
The power wringer lets me remove more water from the mop head, no excess water, faster floor drying time and with these fools running around, we can’t be having wet floors for very long. They’ll trip and fall all over the place . . . . or . . . . make it messy again faster than they normally would. It works on all surfaces and when I’m done, I just pop the head into the washing mashion. (It can be washed up to 50 times). That’s so easy! And I’m all about the simple life.
So, if you’re like me… standing in the mop aisle of the store looking at the mops in utter confusion trying to just pick one… pick a Libman Wonder Mop(the green handled one) y’all. I just saved you a lot of time. ha

I don’t know how it goes at your house, but in our house… well, these animals are just CRAZY! Bo tries on a regular basis to get into the cat food, the cat treats, the dog treats, etc etc. Just whatever he can get his big mouth into. We’ve moved the treats, we’ve tied rubber bands around cabinet knobs, just everything we could think of. I finally thought, “oh man… if he couldn’t get into the container, he couldn’t get into the treats”. Anytime I leave the house, I have to play a game called, “What can Bo eat while I’m gone?” and hide just everything and anything. I’ve come home to find loaves of bread on the ground, treat boxes spread across the house, etc etc. It’s crazy! I once made brownies and came home to find the pan upside down on the floor and under a table. He must have gotten so mad when it landed upside down and he couldn’t get into it! HA! Serves him right though. Turd! So I gathered up some old containers (a tin popcorn can from Christmas and an old coffee container) and I turned them into treat containers. I actually think this would work really well with cat food too! That may just be my next attempt to hide things from Bo.
To make these yourself, you will need:
Spray paint (I made sure mine would work on plastic since the coffee container was plastic)
IAMS™ cat treats
Containers (I used an old coffee can and an old popcorn tin. The popcorn tin was for the dogs’ treats)
Peel off any label, wash it out and take it outside to paint it. Be careful when you paint though, I got distracted and painted too low, oops!
Then just let it dry.
Once it’s dried, add some tape and label it.
See, how easy peasy was that?!
I love that IAMS™ redid their formulas! It allows cat lovers like myself to customize their cat’s nutrition through a well balanced lifestyle with IAMS™ dry, wet and treats.
Did you know that IAMS™ now offers functional food AND treats by targeting specific dietary needs—Hairball Care, Digestive Health, and Oral Care? That’s great for me because Mr. Crowley gets crazy hairballs with certain foods. I’m so glad to have found one that he loves that also helps with hairballs.
Selina cat (My mom’s cat) loves the treats and loves to stare down Mr. Crowley. They’re frenemies and they’re so weird.
They both love the new food though, thankfully because MAN! Finding one that pleases them both has been a kind of a pain! Did you know that cats were so picky? Well, they are! And stubborn! Selina will get mad and knock her food dish in the floor. How lovely is that?! Crowley will just harass me and try to trip me every time I take a step that’s NOT towards his food. I’m not sure which is worse. They’re both a bit dramatic if you ask me though.
So what do you think? How do you store your pet treats?

Today we gather together to celebrate the joyous occasion of Mr Crowley’s life. We recently realized that with the move happening, we totally spaced on our day of adoption with him. We decided that we needed to remedy that and we headed off to Target. We picked up some IAMS dry food, some IAMS wet food and a few treats and other things we needed for us. (David found a golf shirt on MAJOR clearance, I grabbed up some water bottles for pool trips, grabbed up a few things for the Instagram giveaway I hosted, some treats for Bo so he didn’t feel left out etc etc. Target really just is a one-stop shop + some — I mean who doesn’t walk out of there with at least one thing they didn’t plan to buy?)
Have you ever made a cat a cake? It’s pretty hilarious if you think about it. It was pretty stinky, but overall this little one-eyed man loved it and you could tell that with all the confusion of being stuck in a room and all of his fun hiding spots being taken away that he was feeling a bit neglected, confused and just plain mad, that he needed a little treat.
Did you know that dry food promotes healthier teeth & gums in pets? It’s because it’s harder to chew. Did you also know that the IAMS brand believes that the right diet can do amazing things for pets, including boost immunity, help burn fat, help maintain muscle, and help promote healthy digestion, aid in weight loss, reduce tartar buildup, and, in some instances, even nutritionally manage the progression of disease.
Anyway…. to make this cake (ha) you need:
Mix it all together, mold if if you choose (David molded it into a fish shape) and then bake it for 15 minutes in the oven on 350 degrees.
You will have one happy cat!
I also saved some money when I bought the food thanks to my Cartwheel app! Have you heard/downloaded the Cartwheel app yet? It’s pretty amazing! I use it just about every trip I make. They have some deal going on right now on IAMS products too.
Dogs and cats are as unique as people. Large, small, young, or old—despite their differences, they all need a well-balanced diet for good health. We tell everyone we meet that Bo is like Scooby Doo and Crowley has his own personality. They’re all different. The IAMS brand offers formulas by life stage and common needs for both the pet and the pet parent, making it a lifelong brand.
Have you ever made your pet a cake? Is your Target a One stop pet shop?

If you recall, we recently got a kitten, Mr Crowley.
Crowley cat has taken to our home with no problems (Other than his really really stinky poos).
The kids adore him, he is actually able to stand his own with them and with Bo the dog, thankfully.
And because we love this cute little pirate face so much, we want to be sure that we’re giving him the best cat food available! So what did we do? We compared! And in doing so we learned a few things about GOODLIFE™ dry food for cats.
So naturally with our new found knowledge , we went to Walmart and purchased Mr Crowley cat some of the best dry cat food we could find.
He seemed pleased with the switch.
Remember if you’re going to switch your pet’s food, do it gradually so not to upset their little tummies.
We did this by gradually mixing the GOODLIFE™ brand with whatever generic brand he had before, then each time we’d feed him, we’d just add a little more GOODLIFE™ dry food and a little less of the generic brand until it was all just GOODLIFE™ brand he was eating.
He seems to love it.
I tried to ask him his thoughts on the new food, but he decided it was a better idea to try to sneak attack me and then run up the curtains. He doesn’t do interviews very well unlike Bo the dog. Bo’s basically Scooby Doo so I could easily interview him all day, everyday.
But overall, Mr Crowley seems healthy and happy, so I guess job well done. *high-five*
(Isn’t David such a helpful shopper- “let me stand here and hold this for you”)
Crowley cat is sniffing my fingers as I type this. They must smell like his new food. Silly cat. I’m off to wash my hands before he tries to eat my fingers. (I caught him behind my head the other day trying to eat my hair. He’s an odd furball)
After he eats, he usually passes out. Except not in normal sleeping spots- he likes to sleep on the dryer or in Owen’s chair. You’ll notice that the chair is RIGHT beside his little cat house. No matter where we move the chair to, it’s his favorite sleeping spot. (Aside from the dryer)
Maddie says that Mr Crowley is getting fat and heavy, so I guess that’s a good sign too, huh?!
If you’re interested in trying GOODLIFE™ for yourself (your cat) here are some Cat food coupons.
His name is Mr. Crowley. -From the song. Not from Supernatural. (I’ve been asked this a few times already)
We got him from our neighbors after David told me he was looking to get me a kitten, we were on the phone one day while picking up Fin from school and she happened to overhear me and say, “We have one! You can have him!” I asked her if she was serious, she said to let her talk to her husband to make sure he was okay with it, she gave me a big thumbs up over the fence later that evening and the next day we brought him home with us (after a trip to Walmart for a quick little litterbox and some toys and food).
The funny thing about this kitty is that the kids and I fed/played with him when he was only 2 weeks old. The neighbors across from us had found them stranded and taken them in (them being him and his sister), they then asked our neighbor to kittysit them for a weekend while they were out of town. The kids had been begging to see them since their friend had been nonstop talking about how cute they were so we finally spent a bit over there just talking about how stinkin’ cute they both were never knowing that a few months later one would belong to each of us.
Our neighbors later adopted them from the across the street neighbors but that gave them 4 animals so they were more than okay with sending one our way.
After this summer when Roscoe ran away, I’ve been all heartbroken about it since he was older than our kids, he was the first pet we got as a couple, David knew that and had been planning this secretly for months, but could never find a kitten around here to look into getting for me so he finally just told me his plans which worked out perfectly because our neighbor happened to be standing right there overhearing the conversation!
We love him so much already! He likes to walk across my keyboard when I’m trying to get work done or crawl up my leg (ouch) until I pick him up and love on him, then he’ll just lie here purring and enjoying the fact that he’s just stopped me from doing whatever it was I was doing.
I set up a basket with some handtowels in it beside my laptop and he’ll often just hop in there and nap next to me.
The kids love him! They constantly want to just hold him. Even Owen which scares the hell out of me, but Mr Crowley doesn’t seem to mind. Owen gets so excited every single time the cat even moves in the slightest. It’s cute, really.
Oh and his one eye, he was born with an infection that got scratched so he’s never really been able to see out of it anyway, but a few weeks later he ended up in the vet to get it removed after a bit of a gross story that I’m going to spare you guys of.
He doesn’t even notice that he only has the one though, since it’s always been like that for him. It does make life with him a bit more interesting though. He tends to over/under estimate his jumps sometimes and sometimes will stumble a little as he’s walking around or jumping up the stairs. He’s a crazy little furball, but he definitely fits right into the mix here!
I’m doing this on Thursday instead of the usual Friday because tomorrow’s an exciting day for a friend of mine and I have a whole post dedicated just to her!
Let’s see…. around the house.
We went to a BBQ this weekend at a friend of David’s house. That was fun. It was like 60 degrees out and nice to just get out, let the kids play with their little girl, sit outside and chat with adults.
Oh buddy, remember the mess last year with the IRS and identity theft?
Well, it happened again.
We literally didn’t get a refund because of student loans that weren’t mine. Just send happy thoughts and positive vibes my way please and thank you.
Don’t ask about it though, I really don’t want to discuss it. I’ll breakdown. I’ve already cried more times in the past two days than I have in a long time. It’s so much stress, it’s nearly impossible to get a hold of anyone, nobody seems to know what I’m talking about or how to handle it. I have an appointment with the lawyer, I plan on going to Social security to see what I need to change my social security number, it’s a nightmare and puts a huge damper on our tax money plans.
I’ll share more on him next week!
Around the blog, I talked about my planner and how much I love it.
With all the tax/IRS stuff, it’s been a busy week in real life and a bit slow on the blog. I’m sorry for that.
Jillian’s list of 10 characters she’d be okay with leaving these shows.
Jessica’s homemade marshmallow recipe! SAY WHAT?!
I’m loving Sharon’s whole outfit – especially that sparkly clutch!
I’m loving Samantha’s honesty about feeling confident after having a baby.
These Peanut Butter Lover’s Rice Krispy Treats!
Owen had his first hourly care stay on Tuesday. We met with an in home daycare provider on Monday and left him with her for two hours on Tuesday. He cried but eventually got over it and came running to me when I opened the door, yelling “MOMMY!!!!” It was sweet. He missed me.
He also loves the cat!
He yells at Fin and Maddie when he wants to hold him.
It’s cute but scary and sad for the cat.
Fin and Maddie love the cat too! They’ve taken turns letting him sleep in their beds at night. It’s pretty sweet.
Their ballet/guitar got cancelled for Wednesday due to the weather (I’m very much ready for spring).
Tuesday night, David and I helped Fin and Maddie finish up their Valentine’s day cards for their class and helped Maddie decorate her box. It was so sad explaining to Fin why he didn’t get to make a box for school. (His class wasn’t doing it).
Maddie can read a few sight words! That excites me! She can do, “Make, Play, Blue, Yellow, Jump, I, Can, It, In, Is” (those three confuse her from time to time) and a few others that I can’t remember off the top of my head. I’m SO proud of her.
Fin’s been on the accelerated list in Spelling for like EVER now. Seriously, almost all year. I think he’s only had the regular list like twice. (they’re are three lists. Accelerated, Standard and Alternate).
I have smart kids! I’m very thankful for that.
Anyway…. It’s been an exciting week here on the blog with all the giveaways going on!
