I love October. It’s officially Fall, Halloween is right around the corner, it’s pumpkin carving time, the world is changing colors around us. I mean, I think if I had to pick a favorite month, it’d be October.Halloween wins hands down. We’re a bit Halloween obsessed in this house. We just love it. It’s so fun, spooky, creative, tasty, colorful… I mean so many adjectives describe Halloween and October. Anyway, I’ve gotten side tracked with my October/Halloween love. We went pumpkin picking this past weekend (say that 3x fast). We just grabbed some from Walmart because as a family of 5 pumpkin patches just seem a bit pricier than going to Walmart. Plus, I needed to grab a few food items and other things while there. Win, win, right?!
While there, we made sure to grab up a few things to help us get through the rest of this month: quick fixing foods because phew. Next week is Parent Teacher conferences meaning we won’t even get home until like 7pm. As the nights get busy, the food gets quicker and I’m SO thankful for convenient foods easily found at Walmart. We grabbed up some Ballpark Hotdogs (100% beef), some Tyson Any’Tizers,Tyson Crispy Strips (100% white meat, no antibiotics) and some State Fair Corndogs (no by products, great source of protein).
So, after our adventures in Walmart, we headed home to get our carving on. Yay! I popped some Any’Tizers in the oven for a quick snack while we set up and then we prepped the rest of the food and the house for our carving friends to arrive.
Overall, we had a blast! The food was a HUGE hit. I thought my kiddos were going to BURST at the seems waiting (not so) patiently to get to eat their “fingers” haha.
It was so funny to see the designs created. Owen went with a dragon. Maddie went with a ghost but then broke her pumpkin (toothpicks to the rescue) and Fin did a bug thing. David took control over our pumpkin (win for me, I was just left to cook & take photos). Our pumpkin is a goofy looking fella.
What do you think? Have you ever hosted a Pumpkin Carving party? It was so much fun! And I had a BLAST creating those little finger *wink* foods.

I love a good prank. Unfortunately, I’m usually on the receiving end. My husband and son prank me all the time. It’s hilarious and awful. I’m always nervous about what’s coming next. haha.
Since April Fool’s Day is just around the corner, I wanted to put together some ideas for all of you pranksters out there.
Here are some of my favorite from Amazon. (Free Two day shipping for PRIME members. Not a member, sign up here)

I love love. I love Valentine’s Day. But not because I’m a romatic, or David’s super romantic, but because I love Holidays in general. Any excuse to print out some cute printable, coloring page, or whip up a fun little gift for the kids is just my favorite. Holidays are so much more fun when you’re a parent (and a heck of a lot more stressful if I’m being completely honest). I love making cute things for the kids and for their classes. This year, I knew I wanted to make my own cards. I just needed the perfect little saying and item to include. I knew that I didn’t want to pass out candy so when I came across this 72 pack of sticky hands ($6.42) I knew what I had to do! Add to cart.
That’s enough for ALL THREE CLASSES! Do you know how awesome that is? To find one package that contains enough to pass out to three different classes? Even though Fin’s class isn’t participating. Apparently, that stops at 3rd grade. *insert sad face here*
If you’d like them, just click the picture and it should open a new tab for you. I printed em 4 to page
I knew that I’d need cardstock over regular printer paper, so I price checked Walmart & Amazon. I found it WAY cheaper on Amazon, but it was an add-on item. (Which wasn’t an issue for me since I had other things to order) Found it here for $5.99. You could even get some crafting scissors or a paper trimmer (this would’ve been nice to have) for cutting them out. I just let the kid use whatever scissors we had because it’s what we had.
You should also check out these Heart Shaped Animals from Personal Creations to give to friends and family. They’re super easy to make with young kids. Simply print out the shapes, cut and glue. There’s a color version for a quicker craft or a black and white version to let kids pick their own colors. I printed out them all. The kids had fun making them. They made for the perfect sick day activity for Owen. I actually had to print out more for Fin & Maddie because Owen did them all.
Tiny Print’s has a few things to offer as well.
15 different Valentine’s Day coloring pages. I printed off the dinosaur one for Owen. After I read what it said to him, he said, “Oh! because it’s a triceratops, mom” and then he laughed.
Have you ever just gotten in a crafty mood? It hits me from time to time and this time I acted on it. I took Owen to preschool and then took myself to Target to purchase the supplies needed to whip this little sign up. I knew I wanted to make a Valentine’s day sign, I did not however expect to like it so much that I added it to Maddie’s room decor instead.
To make this yourself, you will need:
*Canvas (I found a 2 pack at Target for $9) *Paints (whatever colors you’d like) *Paintbrush *Wooden letters (Oddly enough my store only had the LVE, so I had to improvise on the O which worked out even better than I’d expected) *A cookie cutter. Yup, my
Paint your canvas whichever color you picked. I went with pink.
Paint your letters whichever color. I went with purple. (I ended up not even using the red paint because of the cookie cutter)
Let everything dry, then simply hot glue everything to your canvas. Easy, huh?! I know. I love crafting, but I don’t like the overly complicated crafts. I like to keep it simple.
Maddie loves it in her room. She stores a tiny stuffed animal in the heart. It’s cute.
Courtney! Do not read this post! It’ll ruin the surprise. haha
I’m a first-time Aunt and man, I love having a nephew! It’s so fun getting to shop for him. While I was at Target the other day grabbing a few things for the kids’ Valentine’s day, I thought about what to send baby Emmett. He’s a tiny little thing still, so I was stumped. I wandered aimlessly, grabbing a few things here and there and then realized I was done. Easier than I thought.
So I thought I’d share with you guys in case you were stumped for ideas. 🙂
Some little socks from the Dollar spot that’ll probably fall right off his feet, but they’re cute and only $1.
An outfit. Well, I grabbed a onesie. They live in Florida, it’s hot, he doesn’t need pants. And it was budget friendly, $5.
Also from the Dollar Spot, a plate and matching silverware. He won’t be able to use it himself for a bit still, but oh my goodness it was too cute to not grab.
It’s nothing major, but he’s a baby and it was budget friendly and fun.
It’s a cold December morning. 5 A.M. was the wakeup time. 6:30 if you’re under the age of 10 is apparently an acceptable Christmas break wake up. My children don’t sleep in. But, I’ve been up since 5 myself so….
Day 2 of our winter break was way less exciting for the kiddos than Day 1.
Flu shots & Lab work & video games all day sums up Day 2. It was a pretty decent day on my end though.
I took Maddie & Owen in for their 2nd dose of shot. Maddie held my hands tightly. Owen was totally brave up until it was his turn. I had to pick him up and set him on the chair and then kind of hold him in place while he cried. Poor kid.
Following that load of fun, we headed to the Air Force Academy’s hospital for lab work for me to check the pregnancy levels. Hooray, huh?! Doesn’t Day 2 just sound like LOADS of fun? If you follow me on snapchat, you saw last week’s bloodwork rant & how that went. (Cocky little young person… I broke his streak of November since he wasn’t able to draw my blood…. he redeemed himself last week, but my vein was destined to swell & bruise after being poked too many times in a short period). Well, yesterday guess who calls me back?! Yup. Cocky little guy again. He made jokes about who did that to my arm and thankfully managed to stab me only one time. HOORAY! (I have tiny and deep veins… tiny and deep. Getting poked only once it like a dream come true. Normally it’s at least twice. AT LEAST). So, he managed to get it on the first prick from my left (the non-bruised, but heavily tattooed) arm. We high-fived afterward because we both know how hard that is to accomplish with my veins.
Anyway, so a few hours later a nurse called me to tell me my levels…. TWO! My pregnancy levels were back down to practically nothing. I’m no longer pregnant which is a really weird thing to be excited to hear, but it means I’m healing and that’s a really good thing. I have a followup next week for the surgery and I should be good to go. I can’t even explain how much that phone call has put me in a happier mood. I was starting to feel better, finally but hearing that just was the icing on the cake. It’s almost done. I can move on. I don’t have to go in for lab work anymore, I don’t have to get pricked and poked a million times. I can finally heal. It’s bittersweet, really.
In other news, (again you’ve already seen this if you follow me on snapchat), I got my chalk markers yesterday! WHOOOOOO-HOOOO! I can’t even tell you how excited I was for these things to come in. I’d ordered this chalkboard wallpaper MONTHS ago and finally had the oomph to hang it on a weird cabinet wall in my kitchen. It worked out perfectly & now I’m dying to hang more, but all of our walls have those weird bumpy texture to them, so that’s probably the only place it’ll really get hung up, which is fine but I’m all hyped about it so it’s kind of lame at the same time. Anyway… chalk markers were delivered and I immediately ripped em open.
Doesn’t it just look FUN?! Yes. Yes, it does! And it is! And I’m still so excited about them.
I also came home to a sweet package from a super sweet friend. I’ve never tried a LUSH product. (Don’t throw rocks at me!) so I about died of excitement when I opened this. It smells HEAVENLY!
Also, major props to LUSH for their packaging. The note was right on top, which means I didn’t have to dig. The wrapping was adorable and it’s recycled paper. That just makes me love them so much.
