Do you have a baby in your life? Maybe not your own, but a new niece or nephew? Maybe your bestie just had a baby and you’re too far away to celebrate in person? Any of this sounding like you? Me too! Everyone that I know is having baby after baby after baby and of course we live SO far from them. My sister recently gave birth to my little niece and living so far away has made it challenging. Like, I see a ton of photos, but don’t get to give her all of my in real life love. The next best thing? …. a care package! Not just for baby, but for my poor sleep deprived sister as well.
Putting together a care package like this is a lot simpler than you’d expect. Baby gifts aren’t hard to buy. My go-to baby gift is ALWAYS an outfit, bibs or blankets, a toy, some baby bath products (JOHNSON’S® is my go-to brand and has been since my kids were babies. They have over 90% naturally derived ingredients and THAT is so important when it comes to baby’s skin), and then whatever just looks fun, or something personalized for baby. (In this case, I’d included a hand-me down baby outfit of MY daughter’s to pass to my niece). Then I like to throw in something for the parent(s). One time I threw in a coffee can, and some coffee drinking goodies because I knew the new parents were coffee lovers. In this one, however, I threw in some (late) birthday gifts for her because while I love her and her babies, I really stink at remembering to mail things out. Haha. Oops!
For the JOHNSON’S® baby products, I headed to my local Safeway and stocked up there on a few of my personal favorite things (things my kids loved, needed, etc etc). And if you purchase $40 of participating baby products, you get $5 back! JOHNSON’S® is 100% gentle, and free of parabens, and phthalates. Being a mom of three older kids has it’s benefits – I have all the knowledge of what worked for us, what we loved, what we didn’t, etc etc and I love getting to share that information/advice/whatever you want to call it with my siblings and my friends that are just starting their parenting journeys.
Not only is JOHNSON’S the # 1 choice of Hospitals, it is now more gentle than ever. In addition to that, JOHNSON’S products are dye free, and sulfate free! Simpler, gentler products that 9 out of 10 parents would recommend. And they now come with a pump top making it easier for mom or dad to utilize when he or she has full hands!
Is there a go-to that you have when it comes to gift giving for babies or new parents?
Courtney! Do not read this post! It’ll ruin the surprise. haha
I’m a first-time Aunt and man, I love having a nephew! It’s so fun getting to shop for him. While I was at Target the other day grabbing a few things for the kids’ Valentine’s day, I thought about what to send baby Emmett. He’s a tiny little thing still, so I was stumped. I wandered aimlessly, grabbing a few things here and there and then realized I was done. Easier than I thought.
So I thought I’d share with you guys in case you were stumped for ideas. 🙂
Some little socks from the Dollar spot that’ll probably fall right off his feet, but they’re cute and only $1.
An outfit. Well, I grabbed a onesie. They live in Florida, it’s hot, he doesn’t need pants. And it was budget friendly, $5.
Also from the Dollar Spot, a plate and matching silverware. He won’t be able to use it himself for a bit still, but oh my goodness it was too cute to not grab.
It’s nothing major, but he’s a baby and it was budget friendly and fun.
Have you heard of or tried beard oil or balm from Lovely Beards? When David grows a beard, he really grows a beard. His plan for our new life (after the Medboard when he’s out of the Army) is to grow a Viking-like beard. And it will be awesome. He says that he will keep his neck free from hair and keep his beard nice and healthy. Have you guys ever seen a David beard? Just look at these photos. I am so excited to see what it’s going to look like after a longer no shave period.
(This one below is after almost 2 months)
Since our after Army life is coming SO quickly, (I have an update coming on that next week) I’ve teamed up with Lovely Beards and I ordered him the Bourban scent balm and oil. You can check out all of the other scents for yourself. I was a bit worried that the scents would be too strong, but they’re pretty perfect.
And they’re handmade and organic. That’s a win in my book. When you place your order, be sure to use the code “Beards10” It’ll save you 10% off your entire order & score you free shipping. Seriously, take me up on that code. These are going to be stocking stuffers for David and I know he’s going to love them. I’m sure your bearded man will too!
So, what scent will you choose for your bearded man?
I love to read. Though I rarely find time these days, I love to read. David is also a reader. Thankfully that’s also passed on to our kids. Our oldest, Fin has never had a problem with reading. He’s loved it since he started. Maddie on the other hand has always been good at it, but didn’t care much about it. Now that she’s getting a little older, and a little better at it, she’s enjoying reading almost as much as Fin. Owen loves looking through books, but he loves being read to… especially if it’s one of his older siblings reading to him.
Since neither Fin or Maddie enjoy reading aloud, we’ve had them practice by reading to Owen. Some days they absolutely dread it. Some days they whine and complain. Some days though, some days are purely magical.
On those magical days, I can get them to all kindly sit still and read together. On those magical days, Fin and Maddie take turns reading aloud to each other, and to Owen. On those magical days, cuddling with stuffed animals is mandatory! Bonus points if the stuffed animal matches the book!
Even though I know the days of reading to each other are numbered, I hope their love for reading never dies. I love surprising the kids and people in my life with fun and unique gifts, like this Goodnight Moon bundle.
If you’re the same way, you should have a look at IncrediBundles.com! They have some seriously adorable bundles that you can choose from, or you have the option to create your own bundle. They have all of your baby needs and more!
I ordered the Goodnight Moon bundle and am SO glad that I did. And lucky for you guys, IncrediBundles was kind enough to offer one of you a $50 gift card to put towards your own bundle! (Open to US residents only)
This post is sponsored by TruthGolf through the Rise & Shine Network. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
One of David’s favorite hobbies is golfing. He hasn’t been able to go that often since we moved to Colorado, but finally managed to squeeze in a game over the weekend. Perfect timing too because earlier in the week, I had surprised him with a little box of goodies from TruthGolf.
He sent me photos throughout the day, happy to show me his new stuff from TruthGolf.
Do you see those mountains in the background?! Have I mentioned that I love living here?! It’s just SO pretty, all the time!
Let me tell you a little bit about TruthGolf… They don’t make products for the game of golf, they make products that celebrate it one hat and one shirt at a time. I love that each shirt has a witty truth about golfing. And if you have a witty truth, you can submit your own! Cool, huh? Just head here to submit it.
Oh, and for every shirt purchased, $1 is donated to Tee It Up For The Troops. You know I stand behind that. *wink* If you want to order something, you can save 15% by using the code ONEPUTT
Sponsored by JORD wood watches, but all opinions are my own.
Are you looking for the perfect Father’s day gifts? I can totally help! Do you remember when I talked about JORD watches last summer? (Here’s the post in case you need a refresher). Well, David remembers and he’s been trying to steal mine for almost a year now! You’d think he’d give up, but nope… he doesn’t. I catch him all the time wearing it and he just acts like it’s not a big deal that he just took my watch.
So when JORD wanted to collaborate, I quickly agreed and chose the Fieldcrest Dark Sandalwood watch for David. You should have seen his face when it arrived and he found it in the mailbox waiting for him. The facial expression was similar to that of a kid in a candy store. He was pretty excited about it.
If you’re considering purchasing one (I highly recommend them), save $25 off of your order by using the code DADambernicoleblog25 at checkout! View the wood watches here! Trust me when I say that one of these would make the perfect Father’s Day gift. David loves his. And I’m happy to have mine back.
