I am teaming up with Cat’s Pride® today to reshare our little cat adoption story and also to encourage you to help animal shelters any way you can. The Litter for Good™ program is a great way to help our animal shelters. For every green jug of the flush able, Fresh & Light® kitty litter, Cat’s Pride® will donate a pound of litter to help out a shelter.
We have had our cat, Mr. Crowley for four years now. We got him from our neighbors after David told me he was looking to get me a kitten, we were on the phone one day while picking up Fin from school and she happened to overhear me and say, “We have one! You can have him!” I asked her if she was serious, she said to let her talk to her husband to make sure he was okay with it, she gave me a big thumbs up over the fence later that evening and the next day we brought him home with us.
The funny thing about this kitty is that the kids and I fed/played with him when he was only 2 weeks old. The neighbors across from us had found them stranded and taken them in (them being him and his sister), they then asked our neighbor to kittysit them for a weekend while they were out of town. The kids had been begging to see them since their friend had been nonstop talking about how cute they were so we finally spent a bit over there just talking about how stinkin’ cute they both were never knowing that a few months later one would belong to each of us. You can read more about the day we got him over here if you’d like.
I can’t believe that it’s been FOUR years now since we’ve added this crazy feline to our little family. I couldn’t imagine life without this one-eyed mess. My mornings would be a lot smoother, I’m sure (no cats there to attack me until I feed him, watch my Instastories -ambernmccain- some time. You’ll see this crazy cat’s ways). Having this cat as our pet has truly been a wonderful experience . . . a wonderful learning experience. Cat’s are picky and can be turds. We’ve tried litter after litter with Crowley and he only likes a certain few. Thankfully, Cat’s Pride® is one of them. I feel great knowing that every time I grab a litter for cat, it’s also helping a shelter in need too. It’s the little things, y’all that make my heart happy and picking a litter that does good things as well as is a really good litter, that’s winning.
Cat’s Pride is committed to always improving our products, and the lives of cats and their people. As part of our Litter for Good program, every time you buy a green jug of Fresh & Light litter, Cat’s Pride will donate a pound of litter to animal welfare organizations across America. It’s not a promotion, it’s an expression of our long-standing commitment to helping animals in need.
Go to catspride.com/litterforgood and sign up for the free Cat’s Pride® Club to nominate a shelter to receive litter donation.
We grabbed our lightweight litter from our local Walmart, but you can also shop online as well as locally. Find your idea shopping spot HERE.

May is National Pet month and you guys know that we have three pets, two larger dogs and a one-eyed cat.
They are messy. They’re messier than the three kids. Missy’s favorite activity is to play in the dirt while waiting for the neighborhood squirrel to arrive for the day. Bo loves to nap in the sun and doesn’t get as messy and Missy, but he loves a good run around the yard and with them big paws, he picks up all the dirt. Cat doesn’t go outside (despite all the several times he’s tried and then freaked himself out once out there), but cats are pretty gross too. Hairballs. . . ugh.
In order to keep up with clean up (which is basically impossible) I grabbed a Libman Wonder Mop from Walmart (the Microfiber GRIPSTRIPS™ sold me in choosing which mop to go with, they lift up to 20% more dirt) put it to the dirty floor test. I also sang into it while dancing around the living room and kitchen, but that’s neither here nor there really. Who doesn’t at some point break out into a little song and/or dance while cleaning?
The power wringer lets me remove more water from the mop head, no excess water, faster floor drying time and with these fools running around, we can’t be having wet floors for very long. They’ll trip and fall all over the place . . . . or . . . . make it messy again faster than they normally would. It works on all surfaces and when I’m done, I just pop the head into the washing mashion. (It can be washed up to 50 times). That’s so easy! And I’m all about the simple life.
So, if you’re like me… standing in the mop aisle of the store looking at the mops in utter confusion trying to just pick one… pick a Libman Wonder Mop(the green handled one) y’all. I just saved you a lot of time. ha
There’s also a coupon for you if you sign up for their newsletter —> Libman Company <----
School pictures came home the other day…. like a whole package of them and they’re like “Buy em or send em back to the school” and the very idea of them just getting thrown away was almost enough to make me drop the $9583763 on em (no) but instead, I snapped pics of em and sent them right back to school annoyed at the very waste of all of those photos.
But, you guys…. Look at my babies! *insert all the heart eyes here* They’re getting so big and I swear they just get more beautiful every day. Is that weird to say about little boys?! I don’t think so. They are beautiful. I made them. I grew them. I’ve managed to keep them alive. (with the help of David of course, but it’s MY blog so he gets left out a lot. haha).
I actually prefer my own pics of Fin though becase those freckles melt me, you guys. See here.
Otherwise here’s a fresh look at me. Haha. It only made sense to include one of myself (there’s an updated David pic below too). It’s been a while since I shared a post here. If you follow me on Instagram or my blog’s Facebook page (ambernmccain is me across all social media), you’ll see more pics there. I just forget to come here and ramble sometimes. I guess it’s just easier to share my quick post on Instagram stories or something instead of sitting down to type up a post. I know that sounds silly, but hey…
In other news, my baby boy lost a tooth. My tiny Owen isn’t so tiny anymore, you guys and man… my heart hurts. I’m so proud of the person he’s becomming, but this little milestone really just hit me hard. He’s growing up. It’s just weird knowing that he’s our last baby and there’s just no stopping him now…
But it’s hard to be sad when he RUNS out to greet you yelling, “MOM!!! DADDY!!!! I LOST MY TOOTH” and was just beaming ear to ear with excitement. The tooth fairy in our house brings a gift for their first tooth. He scored a LEGO Pokeball complete with a Pokemon inside. He’s pretty pleased.
David and I squeezed in a zoo trip sans kiddos the other day… mostly to enjoy the sort of warm weather and not be cooped up in the house, but we managed to grab a selfie with a tiger so that’s pretty cool.
That’s my ramble. I hope things are great for you guys! <3
My top three reasons for carrying Kleenex Wet Wipes…
Seriously, if you have kids… you need to go to Target (as if you even needed a Target run excuse *wink*) and grab some of these! They’re great for hands and/or face! They come in 3 packages: Gentle, Sensitive, and Germ Removal. With three kids still at home, you can bet your butt we go through so many wipes, tissues, paper towels, etc etc on repeat. These won’t break the bank, they’re totally budget friendly at only $1.49 each. You can totally order em online as well. Grab your Kleenex Wet Wipes here.
Jam hands are a real thing…. my oldest is almost 11 and he’s my messiest eater. He comes home with mustard stains on him and if sandwiches were made for lunch, I always know which one to call to clean up his mess. Haha.
Maddie is my neat freak. She likes everything arranged a certain way and gets really annoyed if you mess with it, move it around. She likes things neat and tidy, so I keep the germ removal wipes on hand specifically for her.
Then there’s Owen… this kid is just an all around mess. We keep a pack of wipes in the car at all times specifically for this kid’s face! I don’t know how he does it, but he constantly has stuff all over that face. He’s always been my messy faced kiddo… but man, we’ve reached new levels now that he’s a full time kindergartener. Markers, paint, snacks, juice, food, you name it… he’s wearing it on his face.
“This wipe smells goooooood, Mom!!!” – Owen, age 6.
“Okay, buddy…..whatever you say” -Mom, age 32.
Know that you know and have met my top three wipe carrying reasons, tell me about yours?!
They’re also great for our Colorado adventures – hiking, camping, snowboarding, even just park trips… they get tossed into a bag and even though everyone insists we don’t need them, we always end up using them. ALWAYS. I will never not carry wipes. They’re just HANDY!
You can find em in the Kleenex aisle, or pretend you didn’t read that part if you just need a good wander around Target.
Have you guys ever heard of Photowall? You may have seen me chat about this little DIY on my instastories It’s this neat little site full of wall murals and canvases. You literally choose your look and size and then it comes to you with the canvas frame to be built and put together. It’s so neat. You can order them with or without the DIY frame, but I thought that was just a fun added bonus honestly.
When it arrived, i second guessed myself and if I wanted to DIY it. It seemed like more work than what I thought originally, but nope. It was seriously SO easy to do. I took it down to the basement table, laid it all out and got busy.
About 10 minutes later, I came back upstairs with it and my husband asked, “You’re done?! ALREADY?!” I showed it to him, did an arm flex (haha) and told him to come hang it up for me.
Now it hangs in our bedroom and adds a pop of color to our very dark room. I love it and honestly just wonder how it would look hanging above the fire place. Maybe we’ll make that switch around and see. I’ll keep you updated though 🙂
Head over to Photowall and browse for yourself.
They’ve got tons to offer… from living room to kitchen to dining room to kids. I’m sure you’ll find something up your alley 🙂
Would you get the DIY frame or no?
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Olay. The opinions and text are all mine.
Trying to hide that you’ve looked exhausted since 2008?! Me too! Mine probably started in 2007 when I gave birth to my first child. No amount of sleep prepares you for that. But today I want to introduce you to something that will help. Olay Whips.
Olay Whips is the unicorn of moisturizers. Not only does it hydrate something fierce, but it absorbs instantly into your skin meaning you can jump right into your makeup routine without having to wait around for your face to dry. It also continues to hydrate throughout the day for a dewy finish.
Olay Whips leaves your skin feeling wonderfully smooth. I’m talking like velvety smooth, y’all. It’s like a no primer, primer.
I’ve been using Total Effects.
It claims 7 skin benefits in one little tub: Actively replenishes nourishing moisture, evens skin tone appearance, enhances brightness, visibly smooths fine lines and wrinkles, minimizes the look of pores, restores firmness + visibly reduces dark spots. It is also formulated with VitaNiacin Complex II and Vitamins C & E to fight the early signs of aging. Winning, right there! Anti-aging anything is a win in my book. But the fact that it moisturizes as well, plus it’s totally budget friendly…. major win all around. Don’t you think? Do you currently have a favorite moisturizer and/or primer? Let me know if you’d try this & switch it up! I’m excited to hear why or why not.
You can get your Whips from Wal-Mart here #WalmartBeauty #AwardWorthyBeauty #FeelTheWhip.
