When we first moved to Colorado Springs, we looked into zoo memberships, aquarium memberships, etc etc. All the things we knew we’d need while living here. The zoo membership price almost scared us off, but honestly it paid for itself within the first TWO visits. Do you know how often we go to the zoo? Sometimes just David & I go –KID FREE–. Sometimes we take all the kids. Heck, we’ve even gone with 1/3 or 2/3 of the kids. We LOVE the zoo. We take a different route everytime we walk around it, we choose which animals we want to hang out with that day, and we just go.
How often do you get to visit a zoo? What’s your favorite animal to see?
Can you believe that it is already back to school time?! My kiddos have about a week still -give or take a few days. But I was so shocked to see a few of my friends’ kiddos starting up on August 1st. That just seemed SO soon. When do your kids go back? Are you planning road trips still? How many have you taken this summer? We only have one road trip planned for this summer, a 10 hour drive to visit some of our family in Oklahoma (where the wind comes sweeping down the plains). We do plan to hit up a few touristy spots along as well. In preperation for our trip, I loaded up the kiddos the other day & headed to Walmart to stock up on Road trip neccessities. Like, Dannon® Danimals®. We went with the Yogurt Smoothies Strawberry Explosion® 12 pack and a 6 pack of cotton candy. Maddie was excited about these purchases. Haha
(Photos not taken while driving). The kids love Danimals®. They’re not only great for road trips, but also lunch boxes & after school snacks as well. Danimals® are a staple in our house, they’re bought 2-3 times a month and the kiddos just eat em right up. Danimals® dairy products provide kids with a good source of calcium and vitamin D to help kids build strong bones and regulate muscle function.
We’ve taken them in our lunchboxes while our hiking (like this blog post). They’re just a huge hit no matter where we take them. And we have taken them just about everywhere you could think of.
Fin loves em so much he barely makes it to his mouth — this happens often with this kiddo; he’s very messy. haha. Aren’t most kids though?! Have you heard or purchased Dannon® Danimals® yet? If you’ve never heard of em, head here to learn more and to find out where you can grab some locally! Try them! Not only will your kids love them, but they’re perfect for road trips, after school snacking, and just everyday adventures in general.
Now, if you’ll excuse me – gotta go get a car tune up! Safe travels and happy snacking, friends.
In no particular order, because that’s how they uploaded & I’m having an “it’s too early to fix these” moment, so in no particular order…. We went to the Royal Gorge a bit ago with my mom and unlike last year, David got to join us! (Yay for no more summer trainings). We stopped for birth state flag pictures. To include mine because when your 9 year old asks if you want one by your flag, you say yes and then your heart melts because he’s just the sweetest.
Somewhere in here, the boys play with tumbleweeds. We wait in line to ride the gondula, but then winds get too strong & the gondula gets closed for the day. Did I complain?! NOPE! I happily walked my bottie all the way around instead of riding across in the gondula death trap of doom. Seriously, that thing terrifies me.
If you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend making this trip. It’s so neat to get to see it (and slightly terrifying), to walk across the brigde, to ride the gondula (we did last summer) across the gorge. HIGHLY recommend the visit.
Hi, guys! Remember me?! Just popping in today to share some photos from our most recent fishing trip to Manitou Lake. Colorado has some nice spring days in between the weirdo freak blizzardy, snow days.
Maddie gave Owen a chip. She convinced him it wasn’t spicy. He believed her.
We’re on the last few days of Spring break around here, you guys and phew. It’s been a good one, but I’m worn out. Their Spring break actually started on Friday with a snow day, but yesterday it was 70 degrees and sunny. Colorado weather, man. It’s crazy. Anyway, today I thought I’d share some of our smile worthy moments with you guys and remind you that making memorable moments doesn’t have to be expensive, or time consuming. Just BE THERE.
Skipping rocks (or at least attempting too) in the Arkansas river. We packed up a picnic full of sandwiches, drinks, Goldfish, and much more then loaded up, picked up my Mom and headed to check out Bishop’s Castle. The COOLEST thing I’ve seen in a long time. Google it and just browse.
A lot of our Spring break was spent in the basement with video games (hello, Super Nintendo) and VHS movies. Binging VHS movies with the kids makes my heart so happy. Teaching them to play Super Mario also makes me really happy. Owen said, “Wow, Mom! You’re really good at Mario” Ha. Uhh, yeah I am.
We squeezed in a zoo trip. Purchasing the zoo membership paid for itself after the 2nd visit. Seriously, look into memberships if you go often – totally worth the money!
We flew some kites at the park before some crazy weather blew our way. Wouldn’t be Colorado without the crazy weather though.
We played in some snow (because Colorado weather is weird), had a snowball fight, made a little snowman, just enjoyed the day as a family. Once everyone was practically frozen, we headed inside for hot cocoa & Goldfish Grahams S’mores.
What are your Spring break plans? Have you started pinning summer activities? Are you stressing how to keep your kids fed and entertained? Goldfish crackers are a staple in our house, how about in yours? We always have a big ole box and then various bags/prepackaged bags in the cabinet. They make for fun crafts, great snacks, traveling snacks, and so much more. Be sure to head to thePinterest page and YouTube channel for really great ideas for crafts/recipes/and so much more.
