Christmas 2017, also known as the stomach bug Christmas. UGH.
Christmas Eve started off with some donuts from Cookie the elf. And if you look carefully, you’ll see Maddie & Owen sprinkling reindeer food outside. Poor Fin opted to skip this part and stay in bed. I’m not even sure when the puking started, but it started a few days back with Owen… moved on to Fin and to David, now it’s on to Maddie and I just know my turn is coming. It’s been awful. We haven’t slept, we haven’t eaten… a whole Christmas dinner just packed away in leftover containers that will probably eventually get dumped just because they’ll go bad before everyone feels better. Ugh.
After a night of throwing up, Fin thankfully felt a ton better come Christmas morning. We woke up slow and took it easy. David started a fire, I made some coffee and about 4 dozen muffins (because they’re so quick and easy). We opened presents and spent the rest of the day being lazy bums, vegging out to chips & dip, lil smokies and more before the sickness crept in again and nobody wanted real food for dinner.
Remember Sant shops from school? Well, we normally give the kiddos a few bucks to take, but this year they willingly spent their own money and my heart about burst from the sweetness of it. Here are the gifts they got me. Haha. Can you guess which was from who? They were SO proud of the gifts they each chose too.
Mug from Fin. Angel from Maddie. Keychain from Owen. (we all laughed when I opened that one. It’s attached to my purse now of course and that’s where it’ll stay til I switch purses or until it breaks because #momlife. haha)
This dragon… dinosuar thing… he’s been asking for a Yellow eyes (this version in yellow) for 2 years now. TWO YEARS! We’ve searched EVERYWHERE! (found originally at walmart, but then went MIA). Finally David found this on Amazon after repeat trips to walmart and target just to browse the toys…. took the kids to spend Christmas gift cards a few days before Christmas and wouldn’t you know it, David had to talk Owen OUT of buying this exact dinosuar/dragon thing because Walmart had finally restocked em. I about fell out of my chair laughing when David told me that he had to convince Owen NOT to buy the exact thing he’s been asking for for TWO years now. And the fact that after all that crazy searching, walmart restocked and it was there.
Either way, he now takes Fin’s red dragon (red eyes is his name) and pairs it with his Blue dragon (Blue eyes, duh) and they walk around the house growling at each other and scaring the cat and confusing the dogs, so it’s pretty entertaining.
Overall, aside from the sickness that’s going to be the death of me (I’m being SLIGHTLY dramatic, but only slightly… you guys haven’t seen the way this thing hits people), our Christmas was really nice. We don’t have any family local, so we didn’t have to places to be or people to see. We just enjoyed the five of us in all our sickness.
I hope yours was awesome. I’m ready to undecorate now and get life back to normal. Who else is ready for 2018?! *raises hand*
Today’s post is brought to you by my guests, Personal Creations 🙂
It’s Christmas Eve night, Santa and his team are traveling the world, delivering gifts to children all over the world. Lots of families leave out milk and cookies for Santa, but don’t forget about the reindeer! Guide Rudolf and the other reindeer to your home this Christmas Eve with Personal Creations’ reindeer food and printable poems.
Using a few simple ingredients you likely have at home, create a special treat the kids can leave out the night before Christmas. This is the perfect way to say thank you to Santa’s helpers for all the hard work they have done. Sprinkle the reindeer food onto your yard and await the morning for a special surprise: presents underneath the tree!
Owen made some Reindeer food in school and absolutely LOVES it! We’ll be making more over break. haha
You know what’s more fun than a Holiday sweater?! A husband that sports one too! HAHAHA! We managed to squeeze in a quick breakfast day date the other day and decided it was a must to rock our Holiday sweaters. Because, why not?!
We went to our go-to breakfast spot down in Manitou Springs, Good Karma Cafe. It’s this cute little hole in the wall place that serves locally grown food. Their biscuits & gravy is to die for! SO FREAKIN’ GOOD!
Plus, they’re cute and that helps. Look at the mirror in their bathroom. Full disclosure, they do have an ACTUAL mirror too, but this was too cute. There’s also a quote about growing your own food but not knowing where to find bacon seeds that makes me giggle every single time I’m in there.
Also, LipSense for the win. SIX hours in and still looking awesome! If you haven’t heard of LipSense yet and are wondering what it is, I did a whole post about it here. It’s worth the read, promise!
That’s all I’ve got today, folks. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed the sweaters.

Phew. Christmas is over. Doesn’t that just seem crazy? If I’m being honest, I’m a bit glad. I’m ready for normalcy again. Today I just thought I’d share a few highlights from our Christmas morning.
Can we talk about how much of a ham my dog is?! Seriously, he loved Christmas almost as much as he loved being in all of the photos. Bo is NOT a normal dog, you guys. He’s his own person.
So, Range 15… David’s favorite gift for sure. It’s about a group of Veterans that wake up after a night of partying to the zombie apocalypse. It’s ridiculous and awesome all rolled into one. I no joke highly recommend this movie. It was like the BEST gift I could’ve gotten him.
See Bo’s face? He loved all of the excitement of the day.
Fin got a Kindle. He was and is in heaven. We’ve been working really hard the past couple of months with Fin on responsibility and taking care of things. And we had no good idea on what to get him other than a ton of books and LEGO dimensions (Seriously, a great investment) games. We didn’t want all of his gifts to be just that, so we chatted it over and decided to give it a go. A new Kindle is relatively cheap and was on sale for $10 cheaper.
See that case? I had to order another one because David liked it so much. Haha.
YOU GUYS! My sister sent the kids the Pie in the Face game. IT IS HILARIOUS! If your kids didn’t get this game, I highly recommend you grab it up! HILARIOUS! (It also comes with a little sponge you can use instead of whipped cream)
I hope your holiday(s) was wonderful. Who else is ready for normalcy again?
Hi friends, I hope you’re recovering nicely from Christmas. My house is still a disaster. We tidied up most of the wrapper paper mess and the kids carried the majority of their stuff up to their rooms. Now it’s just a matter of rediscovering my kitchen countertops, catching up on dishes, and purchasing a new vacuum. Figures that mine died like days before Christmas, right?! Ugh.
Anyway… Day 3 and 4 of Christmas break were spent just hanging at home.
I finally started wrapping presents on December 23rd. Christmas eve eve. Nothing like not procrastinating. I did manage to get them all wrapped in only a few hours. I took a few breaks because sitting on the floor in the cold basement alone while wrapping presents is not only painful on your butt/back, but it’s quite boring. But, it definitely beat how we usually wrap. We usually stay up til awful unGodly hours on Christmas Eve wrapping EVERYTHING. We go to bed at like 9 pm. That just wasn’t going to fly this year. So on December 23rd, I sat my bum down there & got everything wrapped. I high-fived myself like a champ once I was finished.
I made the kids some snowman pancakes but messed them up because I was busy telling the kids to stop bickering. That’s parenting right there, folks. Ha.
The kids opened their Secret Santa presents from each other. They draw names every year. It’s hilarious watching them figure out who has who, but not actually realize that they know. Last year they ended up telling each other who they had AND what they’d gotten for each other. This year, they only knew who had who. They did a great job of keeping quiet about what they’d bought. It was sweet and hilarious to watch that whole thing go down.
I made chicken & dumpling for Christmas Eve’s dinner. Speaking of, I have a very important question for you… how do you make/eat your chicken & dumplings? I’ve always only known them as dumplings, chicken. That’s all that goes in it. But I see people adding vegetables and weird stuff all the time. So, please… leave a comment and let me know how you make/eat them and where you’re from. Is it because I’m from the south? Is that why we make them how we make them? David’s from the same place I am and he thinks it’s weird to add veggies too.
Read about the rest of our Christmas break here:
Day 1: Donuts & fun sweaters. Day 2: My 1st bath bomb & my obsession with chalk markers
Be sure to also read about our Gingerbread train that never got turned into a train and see a pic of Owen face planting/eating snow.
I have a favorite sweater. I love it. I love seeing people try to read it. I love when people comment on it. I LOVE THIS SWEATER.
I love David’s more. I fall over laughing every single time I stop to look at it.
When boohoo emailed me wanting to send me some sweaters, I quickly agreed because HOW FREAKIN’ FUN! I mean, just look at them!
David wore his the other day to “work” and had Owen with him. I can only imagine the strange looks he got, walking around Ft Carson with a 5yr old while wearing those sweaters. You know they made people’s days.
While wearing mine, I had someone hold the door open for me while saying, “How dare you call me a filthy muggle” in a joking tone. I laughed so hard. You have no idea the amount of people I saw trying to read my sweaters silently to themselves, but their lips would be reading it. So funny seeing people cock their heads trying to catch what it says as I walk by.
Fin & Maddie wore theirs on the last day of school and bounced out the door with excitement over the very idea.
You bet your butt, I tossed them in the washer so we could wear em again the next day! I planned to take the kids out for breakfast and then shopping for an early Christmas dinner with my Mom (Surprise, kiddos!)
Overall, day 1 of Christmas break started off wonderfully. And we all have some really cute Holiday sweaters.
