Can you believe that 2016 is over? I’m kind of glad. The end of this year was extremely rough for me and I’m beyond ready to put it in the past. I’m also really excited about what 2017 is going to bring us.
In 2017, David officially is out of the Army & starts college classes. In the Fall, Owen starts Kindergarten so I’ll be KID FREE ALL DAY! Like, what do I even do with myself?! Isn’t that insane? I’m so used to running around a part day preschool schedule and having Owen as my shadow, that I really think I’m going to be a bit clueless. Maybe I’ll volunteer in his class? Haha. Maybe I’ll finally join the PTO. (Doubtful, I don’t like people).
Anyway, let’s take a quick look back on 2016. 2016 was full of changes, hopes, heartbreak, and just about every emotion you can possibly think of.
I shared my resolutions. I did manage to read quite a bit at the beginning of the year.
I knocked out about 7/8 books which is like a record for me. Before I had kids, I read a lot… now though.. it’s just harder to find the time, I guess. There are just so many other things that need my attention first. I do hope to read more in 2017.
We did a LOT of hiking in January, so I shared a post about packing the perfect hiking bag
Hiking & Geocaching. Have you ever Geocached? It’s a pretty fun little thing to do, really. The kids LOVED it! We hit up a lot of easy ones.
I teamed up with some fellow bloggers, and we put together the ULTIMATE Valentine’s day roundup.
I shared some recipes…. like this simple & tasty cheeseball and these Bacon-wrapped chicken bites.
David & I went on a date and went down the Rabbit hole. What?! How exciting, right?! Need to up our dating game in 2017 for sure.
In February I shared our Dining room (which looks totally different now) and talked about how we decorated our house with a thrift store budget.
I also shared this post about a 3 day weekend, but check out the first photo… and now check out this comparrison photo of me wearing this exact outfit in November when I realized that none of my clothes fit anymore & was cleaning out my closet.
We spent a lot of time at the zoo until our membership expired. We so need to renew that. On this particular trip, Fin was the photographer.
March was a month of cratiness, apparently. I shared this DIY ABC book, a cat treat storage container, and some Bad Dream be gone spray that my kids still use & love as well as 3 simple DIYs inspired by coke bottles.
March is also when I wrote “Why I Unfollowed you“. One of my favorite posts to this day. After reading it again just now, I realized I really really need to unfollow people again.
In April, I shared this DIY reusable cloring book.
I shared what I’d been up to to help pass time since David was in the field.
I shared a post about easy money saving tips.
And I shared about our latest thrift find & wood staining tips.
May brought the boys some new bunk beds, me a new car, lots of thrift trips as well as an Award’s Day Rant from yours truly.
June brought this Chicken bacon ranch pasta recipe. YUM! Because it gets SO hot here in the summer inside our house & I never feel like cooking real dinners, so quick and simple ones that don’t make the whole house that much hotter are a total win.
